Job Description The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for Social Media Specialist, UNLV Enrollment Management, Campus Relations and Visitor Experience [R0153136]
ROLE of the POSITION
The Social Media Specialist is a dynamic, strategic, and creative professional responsible for developing, executing, and optimizing a comprehensive social media and marketing strategy that strengthens the Campus Relations & Visitor Experience department’s engagement with prospective and current undergraduate and graduate students, families, alumni, faculty, and the broader community.
This role will lead the department’s digital presence by managing and expanding its reach across multiple social media platforms, ensuring brand consistency, and leveraging data-driven insights to enhance engagement and visibility. This includes oversight and content management for Undergraduate and Graduate Admissions, UNLV Online, Registrar, and affiliated initiatives such as the Institute for Financial Literacy and Wellness and the Sands Institute for Chinese Language and Culture, ensuring alignment in messaging, branding, and audience engagement across all platforms. The Social Media Specialist will also collaborate closely with partners across Enrollment Management and campus-wide departments to develop content, align messaging, and coordinate social media efforts that support shared goals and initiatives.
The specialist will oversee and mentor a student team, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment that supports content creation and audience interaction. Additionally, this position will produce high-quality, compelling video content that captures the vibrancy of campus life, promotes key events and initiatives, and effectively communicates the university’s values and mission.
The Social Media Specialist will also develop and manage paid social media campaigns, strategically leveraging advertising tools on platforms like Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn, and YouTube to amplify reach, drive engagement, and support enrollment and event attendance goals. This includes budgeting, audience targeting, and performance tracking to maximize return on investment.
The ideal candidate is a proactive storyteller with a strong grasp of social media trends, digital marketing strategies, paid promotions, and analytics tools, capable of driving impactful campaigns that elevate the university’s presence and engagement across diverse audiences.
May require occasional evening and weekend work to cover events. May require travel to off-campus events.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and 1 - 3 years of Related Professional Experience. Credentials must be obtained prior to the employment start date.
