Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts, is actively seeking applicants for a full time faculty position within its esteemed Electronic Production and Design department. The Electronic Production and Design (EPD) Department at Berklee is redefining what it means to be a musician in the 21st century. We educate artists, producers, performers, technologists, designers, and innovators who combine creativity with technological fluency to push the boundaries of music and sound. Our curriculum spans music production, sound design, immersive audio, electronic performance, AI, coding, game audio, interactive media, new musical instrument design, and emerging creative technologies.

The EPD Department invites applications for a full-time faculty position in the Electronic Digital Instrument (EDI) principal instrument performance program. We seek a visionary artist, performer, and educator with an established international reputation as an electronic music recording and performing artist. 

The ideal candidate will have a significant body of original music, a distinctive artistic voice, and a sustained record of professional performances, recordings, and creative projects that have made meaningful contributions to the field. They will demonstrate exceptional musicianship, technical fluency, and performance virtuosity through their own artistic practice, with experience as a solo artist, collaborative performer, and/or a performing member of internationally recognized touring acts. They will inspire students to develop artistry, technical mastery, and performance virtuosity while contributing to the continued evolution of a forward-thinking pedagogy for electronic music performance and the Electronic Digital Instrument as a contemporary principal instrument.

This is a full-time, academic-year teaching position with a renewable contract. The anticipated start date is January 2027. Compensation is commensurate with qualifications and professional experience.

Duties and Responsibilities for Full Time Faculty:  • Primary obligation is to Berklee and to support the mission of the department, division, and college

• Teach, Advise, and perform related duties as outlined in the faculty agreement 

• Perform service to the college and service to the profession 

• Serve on committees as assigned by the department chair, divisions dean, and/or provost 

• Participate in Berklee-sponsored and administered campus climate and culture and accessibility programming

• Attend College-wide events ( e.g., New Faculty Orientation, Opening Day, BTOT )

• Attend department meetings as informed and contribute to the faculty community of the EPD Department, Professional Writing & Technology Division, and Berklee

• Teach courses as assigned within the Electronic Digital Instrument (EDI) performance curriculum, including private instruction, electronic music theory and notation, performance study labs, electronic instrument and performance rig design, musical direction for electronic and mixed-instrumentation ensembles, live performance preparation, music production and sound design fundamentals, and related areas of creative practice and emerging technologies.

• Develop and advance the Electronic Digital Instrument (EDI) principal instrument through curriculum design, pedagogical innovation, technical studies, performance practice, repertoire development, and assessment strategies.

• Maintain high standards of integrity and collegiality in the conduct of duties

Experience and Qualifications

The successful candidate will demonstrate many of the following qualifications: • An established international reputation as an electronic music recording and performing artist.

• A significant discography and body of original creative work, including commercially or critically recognized recordings, performances, and artistic projects.

• Extensive professional performance experience as a solo artist, collaborative artist, and/or member of internationally recognized touring acts.

• Demonstrated performance virtuosity on one or more electronic musical instruments or controller-based performance systems.

• Experience performing across diverse settings, including clubs, concert halls, festivals, immersive environments, and multidisciplinary productions.

• Expertise in designing, building, and performing with sophisticated electronic performance systems integrating hardware and software.

• A strong Deep knowledge of contemporary electronic music genres and performance practices.

• Experience directing ensembles, leading rehearsals, and coaching performers.

• A vision for advancing the pedagogy of electronic music performance and the Electronic Digital Instrument (EDI) as a contemporary principal instrument.

• Experience teaching at the collegiate, professional, or workshop level and developing instructional materials and curriculum.

• Excellent communication, mentorship, and collaborative skills with the ability to contribute to a diverse academic community.

  For this position, a college degree and prior teaching experience is highly desirable as well as excellent collaboration and communication skills.
