ROLE of the POSITION Student Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS) at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for an Assistant Director of Outreach Services/Licensed Psychologist position. CAPS is an IACS-Accredited center within the Student Wellness unit that includes the departments of Student Health Center, Care Center, Wellness Education and Health Promotion, Disability Resource Center, Military and Veteran Services, and the Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities. This role offers a unique opportunity to thrive in a dynamic, integrated service model dedicated to serving a diverse student population.  This is a full-time, 12-month position.

The Assistant Director of Outreach Services (ADOS), under the direction of the Student Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS) Executive Director, provides oversight for CAPS Outreach, Social Media & Technology, and Wellness Promotion.  The ADOS ensures that policies and practices are in accordance with safe, effective and professional conduct, state and federal laws and mandates, licensure requirements, accreditation standards, and UNLV/ Nevada System of Higher Education mandates.  Additionally, the ADOS is responsible to ensure that the CAPS, Student Wellness Unit, Division of Student Affairs and University philosophies and standards are universally disseminated and adhered to.   The ADOS ensures ongoing integration of outreach and prevention programming into the overall counseling center activities while being mindful of resources. The ADOS oversees the development, interpretation, and execution of outreach policies and procedures. This position also requires the provision of clinical services including individual, couples, and group counseling, initial consultation (intake evaluation), crisis assessment and intervention, and outreach programming and consultation services.   The ADOS provides direct clinical supervision and training to clinical trainees and/or psychological assistants. The ADOS is a member of CAPS leadership team and assists with departmental strategic planning and leadership responsibilities including administrative supervision of Wellness Promotion staff and student workers.

In addition to our comprehensive service model, CAPS maintains an APA-accredited Doctoral Psychology Internship Program and an active practicum training program, providing valuable opportunities for professional growth and development.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS This position requires a doctoral degree in Counseling or Clinical Psychology from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and two years of related professional experience.  This position requires one year of comparable supervisory experience with clinical trainees .  Credentials must be obtained prior to the employment start date. 

Demonstrated experience and training in generalist counseling is required.   Candidates are required to be licensed as a Psychologist and attain licensure as a Psychologist in Nevada by the start date.

Successful candidates will have strong clinical assessment and crisis intervention skills, experience in supervision and training, and proficiency in brief therapy and group counseling. A desire to work in a collaborative setting and excellent verbal and written communication skills are required. Experience with coordinating outreach programs in higher education with progressive administrative experience is preferred. Candidates from an APA-accredited graduate program and candidates from an APA-accredited internship program are preferred. Occasional evening and weekend activities are required.

All candidates must pass a background screening. Employees of the UNLV Student Wellness Center must be in compliance with the Student Wellness Center Employee Exposure to Communicable Disease (Prevention of) Policy.

SALARY Salary range: $123,634 - $151,863 Unable to offer more than stated salary range.
