Job Overview:

The Transformation Office is seeking a Vice President of Mandatory Regulatory Portfolio Governance to lead the strategy, governance, prioritization, funding administration, and executive oversight of LPL's Mandatory Regulatory (ManReg) investment portfolio.

This leader will be accountable for ensuring that regulatory investment decisions maximize risk reduction, support the firm's regulatory obligations, and provide transparent governance across a multi-million-dollar portfolio of initiatives spanning Compliance, Risk, Operations, Product, Technology, Information Security, and Legal.

The VP will serve as the primary steward of the ManReg portfolio lifecycle, governing annual planning, investment allocation, in-year funding decisions, financial performance, delivery health, executive reporting, and portfolio execution. The role requires significant executive influence and the ability to drive alignment among senior leaders across the firm while balancing competing priorities, resource constraints, regulatory obligations, and business outcomes. This position offers a unique opportunity to influence enterprise-wide investment strategy and help shape the future of regulatory compliance, risk mitigation, governance, and operational modernization at LPL Financial.

Roles & Responsibilities:

Portfolio Strategy & Investment Governance • Own the end-to-end governance framework for the Mandatory Regulatory portfolio. • Lead annual portfolio planning activities, including intake, evaluation, prioritization, and funding recommendations. • Develop and maintain portfolio allocation strategies that optimize regulatory risk reduction while balancing organizational capacity and financial constraints. • Evaluate regulatory findings, regulatory commitments, audit observations, industry developments, and emerging risks to inform investment decisions. • Establish funding recommendations across portfolio, reserve, and contingency allocations.

Executive Governance & Stakeholder Management • Lead ManReg Operating and Executive Governance Forums. • Prepare executive-level materials and recommendations for MD, GMD, EVP, and Executive Committee audiences. • Drive decision-making across Business, Product, Technology, Risk, Compliance, Legal, and Operations leaders. • Facilitate resolution of investment, prioritization, funding, and delivery conflicts. • Serve as the primary point of contact for portfolio governance and funding inquiries.

Portfolio Financial Management • Oversee portfolio financial performance across all approved initiatives. • Partner with FP&A, EPMO, Procurement, and delivery leaders to ensure accurate forecasting, budget management, and variance reporting. • Govern contingency and reserve funding allocation processes. • Monitor portfolio financial health and identify risks requiring executive visibility. • Ensure transparency and accountability for portfolio investments and outcomes.

Delivery Health & Risk Oversight • Establish and monitor portfolio-level delivery health measures. • Identify emerging execution risks and facilitate remediation activities. • Ensure governance and oversight processes are in place for all funded initiatives. • Drive consistency in accountability, reporting, and escalation management. • Partner with delivery organizations to improve execution success rates and portfolio outcomes.

Portfolio Process Transformation • Continually improve portfolio governance processes, reporting capabilities, and investment decision frameworks. • Expand the use of automation, data analytics, AI, and predictive insights to enhance portfolio management effectiveness. • Develop scalable governance models that may be leveraged across additional strategic investment portfolios.

Organizational Leadership • Provide leadership and mentorship to portfolio governance resources. • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and operational excellence. • Influence senior leaders without direct authority to achieve enterprise outcomes.

Requirements: • 10+ years of experience in portfolio management, product management, enterprise governance, management consulting, transformation, risk, compliance, or related fields. • 7+ years of leadership experience operating across large, cross-functional organizations. • Experience managing large-scale investment portfolios, budgets, or enterprise programs. • Experience presenting to senior executive and board-adjacent audiences. • Experience operating within Financial Services, Wealth Management, Banking, Brokerage, or highly regulated industries.
