At Aditum Bio, our mission is to rapidly translate scientific discoveries into new medicines. Co-founded by industry veterans Joe Jimenez, former CEO of Novartis and Mark Fishman, former President of the Novartis Institutes for Biomedical Research, the firm in-licenses promising therapies that for some reason are not advancing toward the clinic. The firm focuses on the translational phase of medicine to generate data that can support full clinical development, and eventual market launch, to reach patients in need.

Position Summary

The Senior Vice President, Portfolio Operations will lead operational execution for Aditum Bio, overseeing portfolio-wide resource planning, vendor strategy and management, and program management excellence to ensure efficient deployment of capital and resources across multiple companies and development programs, as well as working cross functionally to optimize operations at a portfolio level. This leader will be comfortable using data and technology to optimize visibility and increase efficiency of operations.

The SVP will partner closely with program managers, functional development leaders, finance, and external service providers to optimize execution, solve cross functional challenges, and accelerate development timelines. This role serves as the senior operational leader responsible for driving operational rigor, using data to better make decisions, solve cross functional challenges, and lead an experienced program management team.

Position Responsibilities

Resource Planning & Management

• Develop a resource planning and management technology system for a cross functional matrix organization

• Identify capacity constraints and proactively recommend solutions to optimize resource utilization.

• Make recommendations for prioritization and resource deployment across multiple portfolio companies to the Partners.

• Work with the Partner overseeing development to align resource allocation with portfolio strategy and investment priorities.

• Lead cross-portfolio planning processes to ensure appropriate staffing, budget, and vendor support for critical milestones.

Vendor Management & Strategic Sourcing

• Own portfolio-wide development vendor strategy and governance.

• Lead negotiations and contracting with CROs, CDMOs, consultants, central labs, technology development providers, and other relevant external development partners.

• Drive cost efficiencies while maintaining quality and execution standards.

• Establish vendor performance metrics, oversight processes, and risk mitigation strategies.

• Establish relationships with vendors and senior leaders to develop chains of escalation when needed

• Partner with legal and finance teams to ensure efficient contract execution and compliance.

Program Management Leadership

• Lead and develop a team of senior program managers supporting individual portfolio companies and programs.

• Establish program management standards, tools, governance processes, and best practices across the organization.

• Employ data/data science to establish visibility across the organization on timelines and key metrics across portfolio companies

• Ensure consistent tracking and reporting of timelines, budgets, risks and milestones.

• Drive accountability and operational excellence across the PM function.

• Provide coaching and mentorship to program management staff and portfolio company teams. Partner with finance, program managers and portfolio leadership on budget planning and forecasting.

Cross Functional Operations

• Work closely with development functions and functional leaders to understand cross functional gaps in resources, processes or execution; problem solve and develop targeted solutions for cross functional challenges

• Engage relevant stakeholders in understanding key issues, developing solutions, and implementing change

• Oversee execution of new solutions and track progress of proposed solves

Qualifications

• Experience and proficiency working with all R&D functions within the life sciences (pharma and/or biotech)

• Advanced degree (MBA, PhD, PharmD) is preferred

• Interest and experience in working with AI and technology to improve and optimize operations

• Significant leadership experience within a biotech and/or pharma company with a pipeline of programs

• Experience supporting both early-stage and clinical-stage development programs. Discovery and research familiarity a plus.

• Demonstrated experience leading program management, development operations, R&D portfolio management

• Demonstrated experience managing complex development programs from preclinical through clinical stages.

• Experience negotiating and managing CRO, CDMO, and other strategic vendor relationships.

• Strong financial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, and resource planning.

• Able to provide demonstrated examples of earning trust and effecting change with senior R&D leaders, particularly within complex, fast moving environments.

The range for this full-time position is $350,000 - 450,000 dependent on scope of experience, plus a target bonus, equity compensation and benefits including medical, dental, vision, and 401k. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level and location. The range displayed on our postings reflects the minimum and maximum for new hire salaries. Within the range, individual pay is determined by interview performance, job-related skills, experience and relevant education and training. Please note the range reflects base salary and does not include target bonus, equity or benefits.
