Role Description
The Global Vaccines Medical Affairs Public Health and Policy Lead provides leadership on behalf the Vaccines Research and Medical Organization working in close collaboration with US Vaccines Medical, International and Global Medical team and reports to the Head of Vaccines Medical as part of Vaccines organization within R&D. Primary efforts will be assigned to Lead the interaction with Global Public Health agencies and NGOs that work in the field of vaccines and immunizations The position will focus primarily on leading the policy strategies and strategic plans for ALL vaccines (pipeline and portfolio) additional effort across franchise assets dependent on business needs. These include but are not limited to COVID-19 vaccines, Influenza vaccines, RSV Adult and Maternal, PCV20 adult and peds, Pentavalent Meningococcal, MenB, Lyme, TBE, Pneumococcal Next Generation Vaccines, GBS, and C. difficile vaccines, and any other vaccines in the pipeline or acquired in the future.
The Global Vaccines Medical Affairs Public Health and Policy Lead, : • Is a key point of expertise and accountability for the vaccines assets to the Global agencies, NGOs, and work groups regarding policy development, GRADE, systematic evidence review, reimbursement implications and CMS, quality measures, and implementation in clinical practice. • Is a key point of expertise and accountability for the vaccine assets to the WHO, Gates Foundation, and other international recommending bodies regarding policy development, evidence reviews, and implementation in clinical practice • Oversees the Equity and Social Determinants of Health research director in order to provide data packages to relevant recommending bodies demonstrating how our vaccines and anti-virals potentially can address equity and disparities • Ensures that US medical plans supporting obtaining and implementing ACIP policies for the vaccines assets are successfully aligned with Global strategies and are developed and executed to achieve short- and long-term objectives. • Ensures that Global Vaccines medical plans supporting obtaining and implementing national recommendations for the Vaccines are successfully developed and executed to achieve short- and long-term objectives. • Ensures that Global medical plans supporting obtaining and implementing recommendations and policies for the vaccines assets are successfully developed and executed to achieve short- and long-term objectives. • Chairs the Global cross-functional Vaccines Strategy Teams for Prevnar 20 adult and pediatric, RSV adult and maternal, COVID-19, Influenza, Lyme, TBE, Pentavalent Meningococcal and Trumenba, and other vaccines as needed, and ensures clear cross-functional goals are established, agreed to and executed. • Is accountable for delivery of global Cross-functional Vaccines Policies Strategic Plans, Forecasts, and Business Development plans for in-line assets and those in development. • Is accountable for Global Vaccines Medical Plans and tactical plans implementation. • Partners with commercial leads and ensures alignment on key strategies, deliverables & communication for vaccines. • Collaborates with the respective Brand Team Leaders in developing product policy strategy (WHO, ACIP, CMS, medical societies, others) and ensuring consistency of approach and deliverables for Global Medical Affairs policies activities. • Serves as Global project champion, effectively negotiating with & influencing key internal & external stakeholders. • Is a key medical contributor to Business Development teams for the valuation of any new business opportunities and the assessment of possible policy scenarios using systematic evidence review and GRADE analyses techniques.
Responsibilities
• Manage internal relationships between Global Medical Teams, Clinical, Research, International and Medical team • Chairs the cross-functional Strategy Teams for all the vaccines assets. • Medical Public Health and policy Plan Development: Leads the development of strategies and tactics to support Assets needs, and ensures delivery of Vaccines Strategic Plans for the assets. • Oversees and coordinates medical input into brand strategies and tactics ensuring Global medical needs are met. • Partners with Global commercial team to provide medical input and review and is accountable to ensure alignment on key strategies, deliverables & communication. • Regulatory Support: Is a key member of the labelling committee and the Global Label strategy team. • Safety Support (Risk-Benefit and Safety Committee) a key medical contributor to the Core and Extended Safety committees for the in-line assets. Provides Global colleagues any safety updates, and works closely with Safety colleagues on safety monitoring. • Customer Insights Plans including medical Advisory Boards to gather expert guidance to advise medical planning. Provides Global input into global Advisory Board planning and supports implementation and presentations (as needed). • Collaborates with global Medical colleagues to support development of global medical strategies. • Publication Subcommittee (PSC) Membership: Key Global medical contributor to PSC on key governance to support development of strategic global and regional publication plans. Lead or participate in manuscript, abstract, and poster development. • Medical Affairs Alignment: Ensures effective cross-functional alignment in customer facing activities and represents Pfizer externally in the therapeutic area. • Coordinates and participates in key Scientific and Medical Affairs activities including providing input for regulatory interactions and safety updates. • Communication: Represents the Global team in internal and external forums. • Build organizational capability: Builds trust among team members and broader stakeholders by setting a highly visible example of medical excellence.
