The US Expansion Construction team leads the design and delivery of some of the most advanced semiconductor manufacturing facilities in the United States, including Micron’s projects in Boise, Idaho and Clay, New York. We work closely with engineering, construction, and operations partners to build highly reliable infrastructure that enables world-class manufacturing while fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.

As an UPW/Water Systems Operations Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring ultra-pure water and industrial water systems are designed, constructed, commissioned, and transitioned into operation successfully. This position offers the opportunity to work alongside experienced engineers, influence critical facility systems, and help deliver one of the most significant semiconductor expansion projects in the country.

Responsibilities: • Oversee third-party design partners developing UPW, water reclamation, pretreatment, reverse osmosis, degasification, and distribution systems • Review and validate P&IDs, equipment specifications, system layouts, and engineering deliverables for compliance with project, environmental, and regulatory requirements • Collaborate with design teams, contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders to align system designs with facility objectives, schedules, and performance targets • Support construction, commissioning, testing, startup, and system validation activities, including coordination of PLC, SCADA, and BIM-enabled workflows • Perform technical evaluations, risk assessments, and issue resolution to ensure system reliability, constructability, and operational readiness

Minimum Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience • Experience in UPW or industrial water systems engineering, including responsibility for third-party design oversight or management of treatment system design processes • Knowledge of high-purity water system design, material selection, passivation requirements, filtration, biological treatment, and hazardous waste management • Familiarity with SEMI standards, ASME/BPE high-purity piping requirements, the Clean Water Act, and applicable environmental regulations • Proficiency reviewing engineering documents and models using tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, or Navisworks, with strong project management and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications: • Professional Engineer (PE) license or Certified High Purity Water Specialist certification • Experience supporting semiconductor, pharmaceutical, data center, or other high-reliability facilities with complex wet mechanical systems • Knowledge of sustainable design practices, including water conservation strategies and energy-efficient utility systems • Experience with BIM coordination, clash detection, and integration of PLC/SCADA control systems into facility infrastructure • Experience and/or interest in developing Agentic AI workflows to improve engineering processes and team productivity

The US base salary range that Micron Technology estimates it could pay for this full-time position is:

$89,000.00 - $151,000.00 a year Additional compensation may include benefits, bonuses and equity. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target base pay for new hire salaries of the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional job-related factors, including knowledge, skills, experience, tenure and relevant education or training. The pay scale is subject to change depending on business needs. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.
