Job Posting Title: TXI Communications Intern, Texas Immersive Institute, Moody College of Communication (Open to Work-Study) ---- Hiring Department: Moody College of Communication ---- Position Open To: All Applicants ---- Weekly Scheduled Hours: 12 ---- FLSA Status: Non-Exempt from FLSA ---- Earliest Start Date: Aug 24, 2026 ---- Position Duration: Expected to Continue Until May 07, 2027 ---- Location: UT MAIN CAMPUS ---- Job Details: General Notes: • At the Texas Immersive Institute (TXI), we provide access to emerging technology and research to design for artists, scientists, and humanists who use storytelling to share solutions to big problems that are responsive, responsible, and remarkable. Our goal is to be a leading voice in the future of communication and media through applied creative and research projects using a mixture of live communication methods and emerging technologies.
Purpose: • As the Communications Intern, you’ll help shape and share the story of Texas Immersive Institute. You’ll support the TXI Team in creating content that highlights our community, projects, promotes our events, and shows how immersive technology connects to all majors at UT. From social media to newsletters, your work will inspire students to engage with our programs, workshops, and special events.
Responsibilities: • Design and execute a campaign to raise awareness for Texas Immersive or a key event (e.g., Explorer-in-Residence, Social Impact BuildFest) that actively engages students through interactive and participatory experiences.
• Incorporate elements of immersive storytelling, physical installations, digital engagement, or on-campus activations to spark curiosity and drive involvement
• Assist with planning and creating posts for Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube.
• Share student and alumni highlights, workshop promos, and behind-the-scenes content using Stories, Reels, and Shorts.
• Craft posts that drive interest in the program and projects.
• Leverage and stay up to date on social media trends
• Use MailChimp to draft and schedule newsletters and email announcements to promote events and share community updates.
• Help promote workshops, Sandbox days, and other events with fun, inclusive, and informative content.
• Gather and share stories through interviews, photos, quotes, or videos to showcase the impact of immersive learning.
• Help create and maintain a simple system to track stories, quotes, and updates for future use.
• Review engagement metrics (followers, clicks, views) and assist in reporting on outreach impact.
• Create community events to keep the participants engaged and foster a safe space to grow the community.
Required Qualifications: • Strong written and spoken communication
• Eye for design / visuals (Canva, Adobe Creative, or similar tools a plus)
• Familiarity with Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube
• Basic video editing skills
• Organizational skills (for tracking content and scheduling posts)
Pay Rate: • $15/hour
Scheduled Weekly Hours: • 10-12 hours/week
Working Conditions: • Hybrid, when in-person will meet at Texas Immersive Lab (CMA 5.102)
