Job Posting Title: Texas Robotics Communications Student Associate ---- Hiring Department: Department of Computer Science ---- Position Open To: All Applicants ---- Weekly Scheduled Hours: 10 ---- FLSA Status: Non-Exempt from FLSA ---- Earliest Start Date: Immediately ---- Position Duration: Expected to Continue Until Dec 31, 2027 ---- Location: UT MAIN CAMPUS ---- Job Details: General Notes Texas Robotics is an interdisciplinary program composed of 18 core robotics faculty from the Departments of Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical & Computer Engineering, and Aerospace Engineering & Engineering Mechanics. At Texas Robotics we perform groundbreaking research, deliver transformative education, and make a broad positive impact through community outreach. We are passionate about advancing key areas such as long-term autonomy, robot manipulation, medical robotics, and human-robot interaction, with crosscutting emphasis on artificial intelligence, machine learning, and societal impacts—all while drawing on the breadth of expertise at UT Austin.

In this position, you will carry out various tasks and support for Texas Robotics. The majority of Texas Robotics operations are located in Anna Hiss Gymnasium (AHG), although you may find yourself completing work in the Gates-Dell Complex (GDC), the Engineering Education and Research Center (EER) and/or other buildings on campus.

This position has a lot of opportunities to expand your skills, knowledge, and ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders including students, staff, faculty, industry affiliates, and community members. It's suited for someone who likes customer service, event logistics, problem-solving, marketing, and writing. And has the ability to work independently as well as on a team, multi-task, create and document work processes, and stay organized.

Purpose This position will carry out various communications tasks and support for Texas Robotics.

Responsibilities • Lead weekly tours of Anna Hiss Gym and be well versed in our research lab spaces and academic programming • Event Photography • Printing and maintaining marketing materials • Managing digital event signage, and creating updates for monitors within AHG • Creating marketing materials through Canva and/or InDesign • Posting on Social Media, including but not limited to Instagram and Twitter • Assisting with general events and Texas Robotics needs such as setting up and tearing down, moving tables/chairs, moving boxes or other event collateral, accepting catering deliveries, setting out catering, and cleaning up after the event.

Your duties are likely to evolve as you gain experience within the building and the program. This is a long-term opportunity that will lead into future semesters (depending on performance). Please note that your weekly hours might vary over the semester depending on workload and event schedules.

Required Qualifications • Must be a current student at The University of Texas at Austin. • Must be available to work in office • The position is well-suited for a person who is productive, creative, resourceful, and customer service-oriented. We'd like you to be someone who enjoys learning, designing, communicating, and is hard-working. • This role may involve lifting objects up to 25 pounds • Workers must be punctual.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications • Experience with Excel, Photography, Microsoft Word, Power Point, Box, Canva, Social Media, and Google Docs. • Interest in Robotics, marketing, and event planning is preferred.

Salary Range $14.00/hour

Working Conditions • Typical office environment.

Work Shift • 9-12 hours per week, with the potential for increased hours during busy times.
