Job Summary The Project Manager III is a senior professional role responsible for leading complex, cross‑functional projects with significant business impact. This role applies advanced project‑management expertise, strong execution judgment, and stakeholder leadership to deliver outcomes across multiple functions, timelines, and constraints. Job Description Role Overview The Project Manager III owns large or high‑complexity projects, or multiple related initiatives, often involving competing priorities, significant change, and elevated stakeholder visibility. The role goes beyond routine execution into trade‑off management, decision framing, and organizational influence. This position does not include formal people‑management responsibility but provides informal leadership and mentorship to Project Manager I–II roles and analysts. The role typically reports to a Senior Project Manager, Program Manager, PMO Lead, or Functional Leader.

Key Responsibilities Senior Project Leadership & Ownership

Lead end‑to‑end delivery of complex, high‑visibility projects Define project strategy, scope, objectives, milestones, and success metrics Ensure alignment between project outcomes and business priorities

Integrated Planning & Execution

Develop and maintain integrated project plans across multiple workstreams Manage critical paths, dependencies, and sequencing across teams Balance scope, schedule, cost, and quality trade‑offs to maintain delivery

Risk, Issue & Change Management

Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate project risks and issues Lead resolution of non‑routine or high‑impact challenges Manage scope change through disciplined change‑control processes

Cross‑Functional & Stakeholder Leadership

Influence and align senior stakeholders across Operations, Engineering, IT, Finance, Supply Chain, and other functions Facilitate decision‑making in ambiguous or constrained environments Serve as the primary point of accountability and escalation

Reporting, Analysis & Executive Communication

Track progress against schedule, scope, cost (if applicable), and performance metrics Provide clear, executive‑ready status updates, insights, and recommendations Prepare materials for steering reviews, leadership updates, and governance forums

Governance & Delivery Discipline

Enforce adherence to project‑management standards, tools, and governance requirements Ensure transparency, accountability, and documentation quality Support audits, reviews, and project assurance activities

Financial & Resource Oversight (as applicable)

Manage project budgets and forecasts within approved parameters Coordinate resource planning and capacity constraints with functional leaders Support variance analysis and corrective actions

Continuous Improvement & Best Practices

Capture lessons learned and improvement opportunities Apply insights to improve future project delivery and execution models Contribute to development of PMO standards and practices

Mentorship & Capability Building

Mentor Project Manager I–II roles and project analysts Review plans, risks, and status for quality and rigor Support onboarding and development of less‑experienced project managers

Qualifications Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Operations, Finance, or related field required Professional certification (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2) preferred Typically 5–8+ years of experience in project management, program delivery, consulting, or operations roles

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Advanced knowledge of project management methodologies and tools Proven ability to lead complex projects independently Strong strategic thinking, analytical, and problem‑solving skills Excellent stakeholder‑management and influence capability Executive‑level written, verbal, and presentation communication High standards for accountability, rigor, and delivery discipline
