📃 ABOUT YOUR LEAD
Hi, I'm Steve https://www.linkedin.com/in/stevefernandes-2a928256/, co-founder and Director of New Nuclear at NPX – your future lead! I've built my career delivering complex nuclear projects including 15+ years in field work at Bruce Power, leading multi-disciplinary teams through major refurbishment campaigns, and strategic and programmatic support to New Build Projects.
I'm a mentor, a teacher, and (full disclosure) a champion of dad jokes. I believe culture is built on smiles and being there for each other — and that's exactly the kind of team we've grown at NPX. If that sounds like your kind of place, I'd love to meet you. Let's build something great together.
🌍 ABOUT US
NPX https://www.npxinnovation.ca/ partners with nuclear utilities and new reactor projects to unlock performance through innovation. We combine decades of nuclear operation expertise with AI, digital tools and lean processes to help plants run safer, smarter, and more cost-effectively. Our New Nuclear team scales this expertise through strategic project management of new nuclear projects, from concept through execution, across Canada, the U.S., and globally.
🧠 THE ROLE
We're building the team that will deliver the next generation of nuclear power in North America, and we're always looking for exceptional Senior Project Managers to help lead the way.
As a Senior Project Manager at NPX, you'll manage the full lifecycle of your scope, from early planning and design through execution, integration, and turnover, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and to the highest safety and regulatory standards. You'll coordinate internal teams, cross-functional disciplines, clients, utilities, and external partners, while proactively managing risk and keeping every stakeholder aligned toward the same outcome.
Travel Requirements: Requires on-site presence in Bruce County approximately three days per week to support effective collaboration and decision-making.
Salary Range: $140-170k (Exact compensation may vary)
🎯 WHAT YOU'LL DRIVE
- Own and drive design and execution packages within your scope, integrating on-site and off-site systems and infrastructure to keep the build moving as one coherent project.
- Engage engineering teams with construction teams to intelligently plan site preparation and readiness activities ahead of a large-scale nuclear new build.
- Ensure seamless coordination between your discipline and the rest of the project — electrical, mechanical, I&C, civil — resolving interface risks early and preventing downstream impacts.
- Support new reactor and first-of-a-kind deployments by introducing innovative design approaches, modularization strategies, and digital engineering tools.
- Identify and mitigate technical, regulatory, and construction risks specific to your domain while ensuring compliance with applicable codes, standards, and nuclear regulatory requirements.
- Manage relationships with utilities, OEMs, EPC partners, and suppliers to ensure technical alignment, procurement readiness, and timely delivery.
- Provide leadership through installation, testing, and commissioning phases, ensuring systems perform safely and as designed.
✨ WHAT YOU'LL BRING
- Deep Technical Expertise: Strong background in your discipline — whether that's power systems, heavy civil construction, field execution, engineering, procurement and supply chain, or reactor technology — and in system integration within complex infrastructure environments.
- Project Leadership: Experience leading multidisciplinary project teams and managing complex scopes through full lifecycle delivery in regulated industries.
- Results & Accountability: You take ownership of scope, schedule, and budget performance, driving teams toward measurable outcomes.
- Adaptability in Complex Environments: Comfort navigating ambiguity, evolving regulatory requirements, and first-of-a-kind project challenges.
- Technical Risk Foresight: Ability to anticipate integration, constructability, procurement, and commissioning risks before they impact delivery.
- Cultural Leadership: You model accountability, collaboration, mentorship, and innovation, strengthening team culture while delivering technical excellence.
- Domain Familiarity: Experience in nuclear, energy, or major capital projects is an asset. Familiarity with CSA N286, project controls frameworks, or equivalent regulated environments is preferred. Experience with new build, Gen III+/Gen IV reactors, SMRs, or management system development is an asset. In addition, experience in additional subject matter areas is an asset including: - Reactor Technology Providers – reactor planning and deployment - Construction Execution – construction planning, logistics, advanced work packages, field execution - Supply Chain – procurement strategy and vendor delivery for first-of-a-kind builds - Civil / Earthworks – site development, grading, and foundation works - Electrical – power distribution, protection, and control system delivery - Governance – program governance frameworks and controls for new nuclear builds
