We are currently hiring a Senior Project Manager located in Manhattan Beach, CA. This position will support capital improvement projects (CIP) projects for a local municipality and prior experience with public works project types is required. Our public works team are prime consultants to various municipality, county, state, and public education institutions. You will be teaming with project, program, and client leadership to provide premier public facilities that make a positive impact in the communities we support.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities: • Plan, manage, and coordinate all aspects of the project schedule, scope, and cost. 

• Provide project administration as the Owner's Representative and serves as the primary liaison with the city, design team, contractors, regulatory agencies, utility companies, and project stakeholders.

• Communicate with and manage project stakeholders. 

• Prepare Project Management plan and fee budget/proposal at the project outset. 

• Evaluate documents and communicate the client’s specific goals and expectations to all project team members. 

• Develop and communicate action plans that will lead the project team throughout the project, beginning with the initial Project Management Plan through to project closeout.

• Drive the permitting process by designing team documents to be submitted to various local, state, and federal agencies and ensure the applicable permits are moving through the process efficiently. 

• Coordinate with Inspector of Record (IOR), Fire Marshall, and other regulatory agencies to facilitate successful inspections and completion of projects.

• Organize and maintain framework for project team processes and record keeping of electronic and physical documents.

• Ensure the project design management continues to follow the client project documents such as budget, scope, schedule, and client's design standards. 

• Prepare cost and revenue projections. 

Knowledge & Skills Required: • Experience preparing Project Management Plans and fee/budget proposals.

• Experience with infrastructure (sewer, water, storm, roadway improvements, etc.) and site improvement elements of a project.

• Experience with local public agencies.

• Demonstrated ability to monitor scope throughout the project and recommend adjustments when necessary.

• Strong knowledge of building construction, including framing, HVAC, utility connections, concrete, rebar, steel, fire sprinklers, doors, fire alarm, building access systems, etc.

• Knowledge of public works project administration, including the ability to read and interpret plans and specifications.

• Ability to prepare and communicate cost and revenue projections.

• Knowledge of permitting process and ability to drive the process to meet project timelines.

• Knowledge of the complete project lifecycle, including closeout work.

• Utilize effective written and oral communication skills. 

• Deliver quality work product by role modeling organizational core values.

• Hold self accountable to individual and team goals.

• Consistently communicates and collaborates with team members and clients.

• Demonstrate ability to be dependable, diligent, and thorough. 

• Exercise creativity and resourcefulness in managing the project effectively in a compressed timeframe. 

Preferred Education and Experience: • Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field required.

• Minimum of fifteen (15) years of experience in project management, engineering, or construction management. Including at least five (5) years of experience performing project management of CIP projects.

• Mandatory registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in any state in the United States.

• Prior experience with public works building projects.

Ranges are determined based on the position, geography, client and industry experience and level, and represent a good faith effort to provide a fair and equitable salary.
