Who You Are
Reporting to the Director of Clinical FP&A, the Senior Manager / Associate Director – Clinical FP&A will play a key role in supporting the governance and refinement of clinical trial expense management at BridgeBio. This individual will serve as an analytical resource and cross-functional partner, helping to contextualize clinical study expenses against operational performance metrics, identify and interpret drivers of financial variances, and build a stronger foundation for clinical financial analysis across our portfolio. Day-to-day, this person will work closely with Clinical Operations study managers, Accounting, and other cross-functional partners to bring operational intelligence to financial data — and bring financial perspective to operational discussions. BridgeBio is a dynamic company with a maturing pipeline and evolving processes; this role is well-suited for a curious, collaborative individual who is energized by building upon and improving processes in an environment where no two studies are exactly alike.
Responsibilities
Clinical Study Financial Intelligence:
• Analyze clinical trial expense variances against study operational metrics (e.g., enrollment rates, site activations, protocol amendments, vendor activity) to determine whether variances are temporary in nature or reflect permanent, structural changes to the cost profile of a study
• Partner with Clinical Operations study managers to understand study plan pivots, enrollment challenges, vendor performance issues, and other factors driving financial deviations; synthesize this context into clear assessments for the Director and senior leadership
• Monitor clinical trial performance metrics and proactively flag situations where operational developments are likely to have near-term or long-term financial implications
• Support preparation of variance commentary and study-level financial summaries that contextualize expenses against study status and operational dynamics
Budgeting & Forecasting:
• Support the Director in reviewing and validating clinical trial expense projections generated through the Condor system, ensuring that the right operational inputs are reflected and outputs are reasonable given study dynamics
• Assist in updating forecasts to reflect evolving study circumstances, including enrollment challenges, protocol amendments, vendor changes, and other pivots common in clinical development
• Provide key input to periodic financial reviews by preparing variance commentary and supporting materials
• Support scenario analysis by helping to assess the financial impact of potential study-level changes or risks identified through Clinical Operations partnerships
Financial Analysis & Reporting:
• Conduct analysis of clinical development costs, evaluating variances and ensuring that financial performance is contextualized against study operational metrics rather than reviewed in isolation
• Assist in preparing financial reports and materials for the Director and senior leadership, highlighting key expense trends, risks, and study-level dynamics
• Support development of metrics, analytics, and reporting templates that improve the team’s ability to communicate clinical financial performance in a clear, operationally grounded way
• Develop models and gather data to streamline our “storytelling” and to create internal benchmarks
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
• Build working-level relationships with Clinical Operations study managers to establish regular cadences for gathering study updates, plan changes, and contextual information relevant to expense analysis
• Collaborate with Accounting to interrogate actuals data, understand the impact of accounting treatments on reported clinical expenses, and flag areas of concern to the Director
• Work across the clinical organization, accounting, outsourcing, and other functions — without limitation to any specific therapeutic area or segment — to integrate operational context into financial assessments
• Support cross-functional teams in identifying cost-saving opportunities, improving efficiencies, and optimizing the financial performance of clinical programs
Process Improvement:
• Support the Director in evaluating and improving financial planning, accrual, and reporting processes related to clinical development, with a focus on building upon the existing foundation rather than retooling what is already working
• Contribute to the development of best practices for clinical financial analysis, variance commentary, and cross-functional financial reporting
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Life Sciences, or related field
• 4–7 years of progressive experience in financial planning and analysis; exposure to clinical development or life sciences environments is preferred
• Demonstrated understanding of clinical trial protocols, how studies are operationalized, and the inherent dynamic
