We are searching for the best talent for Senior Category Manager, Global MedTech Vision Equipment & Automation to be in Jacksonville, FL.
Purpose: The Senior Category Manager, Global MedTech Vision Equipment & Automation, is responsible for providing category leadership, strategic sourcing, and supplier relationship management for vision systems, automated inspection equipment, robotics, controls, and manufacturing automation technologies supporting Johnson & Johnson's global MedTech manufacturing network. This highly visible position is accountable for shaping and executing global category strategies that improve speed-to-market, quality, operational excellence, innovation, and total cost of ownership across MedTech operations. The Senior Category Manager serves as the procurement subject matter expert (SME) for manufacturing automation and vision technologies and is responsible for developing strategic supplier partnerships that enable business growth, digital transformation, and manufacturing excellence. This position partners closely with Engineering & Property Services (E&PS), MedTech Technology, Manufacturing Engineering, Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, and Capital Project Teams to align sourcing strategies with technology roadmaps, capacity expansions, and operational priorities. The role also serves as the executive procurement lead and Supplier Relationship Manager (SRM) for key strategic suppliers, driving supplier performance, innovation, risk management, and long-term value creation across Johnson & Johnson's MedTech portfolio. You will be responsible for: • Develop and implement global category strategies for Vision Systems, Automated Inspection Equipment, Robotics, Controls, Industrial Automation, Digital Manufacturing Technologies, and related engineering services. • Serve as the Procurement SME for Automation and Vision Equipment, providing strategic guidance to project teams and stakeholders on supplier selection, commercial models, technology capabilities, and market trends. • Lead strategic sourcing events, supplier evaluations, commercial negotiations, and contract development for capital equipment, automation systems, and supporting engineering services. • Establish and manage strategic supplier relationships with key automation and vision equipment suppliers, serving as the executive Supplier Relationship Manager (SRM) and driving governance, performance management, innovation, and continuous improvement initiatives. • Partner closely with E&PS, MedTech Technology, Manufacturing Engineering, Operations, Quality, and Capital Project teams to support new product introductions, facility expansions, manufacturing modernization, and automation deployment strategies. • Develop preferred supplier strategies and global framework agreements that improve standardization, scalability, and speed of execution across MedTech manufacturing sites. • Drive supplier innovation by identifying emerging technologies and collaborating with suppliers to improve manufacturing capability, inspection performance, digitalization, and operational efficiency. • Lead supplier performance reviews, risk assessments, business continuity planning, and escalation management activities for critical suppliers. • Identify and deliver procurement value through cost optimization, productivity improvements, process efficiency, and lifecycle cost reduction initiatives. • Maintain market intelligence on automation, robotics, machine vision, industrial controls, and smart manufacturing technologies, translating insights into category strategies and business recommendations. • Collaborate with regional procurement teams to ensure consistent execution of category strategies across the Americas, EMEA, and APAC. • Embed responsible sourcing, sustainability, quality, cybersecurity, and compliance requirements into supplier selection and category management processes. • Provide updates and strategic recommendations to senior procurement and business leadership regarding category performance, supplier risks, market developments, and value delivery.
Qualifications / Requirements: • Bachelor's degree required in Engineering, Supply Chain, Business, Manufacturing, Automation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. MBA or relevant master's degree preferred. • Minimum seven years of procurement, strategic sourcing, supplier management, engineering, automation, manufacturing technology, or related experience. • Demonstrated experience sourcing capital
