Overview

T he Sales Commission Analyst plays a pivotal role supporting our Street and Block sales teams by bridging the gap between quantitative financial analysis and high-touch customer support. Serving as the primary analyst for sales compensation, you will leverage SQL and Tableau to build complex reports, model internal "what-if" incentive scenarios, and evaluate whether current comp plans are successfully driving business goals.

Equal parts data expert and empathetic communicator, you will manage pay inquiries, navigate complex plan nuances, and de-escalate sensitive compensation questions with high EQ. While starting with a mix of process-driven support and analytical operations, this role will quickly evolve into a fully strategic analyst position. If you are passionate about data-driven decision-making, financial forecasting, and supporting a fast-paced sales environment, this is an exceptional opportunity to make a direct impact.

Responsibilities • Serve as the primary analyst for sales compensation, querying large data sets using SQL and building interactive reports in Tableau.

• Manage and resolve incentive pay inquiries from sales reps with exceptional customer service, high EQ, and clear, data-backed communication.

• Perform "what-if" scenario modeling and forecasting to ensure compensation structures drive intended sales behaviors and performance metrics.

• Research, interpret, and operationalize complex, evolving compensation plans and legal documentation (updating on average up to 1x per year).

• Navigate gray areas in compensation disputes by synthesizing context, reviewing documentation, and delivering fair, data-driven resolutions.

• Partner with revenue and finance leadership to refine existing comp processes (~30% of the role is process management and optimization).

• Continuously evaluate data workflows to automate recurring reporting and improve calculation efficiency.

Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or a quantitative field.

• 2–4 years of post-grad work experience in finance, compensation, or financial analytics, with a strong customer service or support background.

• Proficiency in SQL for querying, data manipulation, and extraction (Primary Analyst capability required).

• Demonstrated experience building, maintaining, and analyzing reports in Tableau.

• High Emotional Intelligence (EQ) with proven ability to de-escalate sensitive, pay-related inquiries while maintaining trust and transparency.

• Strong ability to read, interpret, and apply rules from complex compensation plan documents.

• Experience in sales forecasting, incentive modeling, or "what-if" scenario planning.

• Self-starter with strong attention to detail and ability to work through ambiguous, "gray area" situations.

• Experience supporting sales organizations is required; solar industry background is a strong plus.

• Proficiency in using modern AI tools to optimize analysis workflows, or a growth mindset to adopt emerging automation technologies.
