Labcorp is seeking a Regional Director Logistics to join our Global Logistics team.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday. First Shift
The Regional Director Logistics - Americas is responsible for leading logistics operations and services across North and South America, ensuring the efficient and compliant movement of clinical trial materials and samples throughout the supply chain. This role oversees regional logistics teams and drives the development, optimization, and execution of processes supporting shipments of clinical collection supplies from fulfillment centers, time critical biological sample shipments from investigator sites to laboratories, and inter-laboratory transportation.
The Director is accountable for managing the performance of transportation partners, monitoring service levels, identifying operational risks and improvement opportunities, and implementing effective corrective and preventive action plans. The role requires exceptional leadership, strategic thinking, and operational expertise to ensure high quality service delivery, regulatory compliance, and continuous process improvement.
As the primary point of contact for client strategic discussions, the Director collaborates closely with customers and executive stakeholders to understand business needs, develop innovative and cost effective logistics solutions, and strengthen long term partnerships. Success in this position requires outstanding problem solving, communication, and presentation skills, along with the ability to effectively influence and engage executive leadership across internal and external organizations.
Job Responsibilities • Contributes to the development and execution of the Global Logistics Operating Plan. The plan is the function’s response to the Corporate and Business Unit operating objectives and strategies. Participates in the Regional Logistics management team tasks related to strategy, planning, and cross departmental CLS issues. • Manages and supervises the day-to-day operations of the regional team including but not limited to: • Ensuring the development of a competent workforce to meet growth plans within budget. • Ensuring compliance with external regulatory requirements such as IATA, Ministries of Health etc. • Managing the workload balance. • Accountable for the activities and outcome of the team, taking corrective action where appropriate. • Ensure consistent implementation, use and review of SOPs. • Ensure appropriate resource allocation to successfully implement and execute Global Logistics services to achieve agreed upon service levels. • Improve current service levels and develop innovative solutions designed to deliver customer requirements. • Ensure the development of systems, processes and skilled workforce to meet the workload growth plan for CLS within agreed budgets. • Develop and guide in the implementation of global processes, procedures, and performance metrics: • Lead the Regional Logistics tasks related to planning, budgeting and cross department issues. • Ensure performance metrics are global: Track, monitor, and report in the agreed upon timelines. • Manages and supervises staff including but not limited to: • Coordinating and monitoring progress to ensure achievement of timelines and goals. • Day-to-day management and supervision of individual team members. • Completing thorough, timely and well-documented performance evaluations and interim progress reviews. • Identifying appropriate successors/deputies for all key roles within the team. • Plan and develop resources and skills required for the successful execution of the logistics strategy. • In conjunction with Sales and Project Management, monitors, tracks, manage and ensure resolution of all logistics customer complaints, issues and concerns. • Ensure all services failures are identified, tracked and resolved in a timely manner. Take preventative actions to ensure that the same service failure(s) does not occur again. • Instills a culture of continuous improvement, quality, productivity and profitability. • Effective and timely adherence to management communications, meetings and procedures. • Accountable for the effective management of the team budget and achieves budgeted targets.
Minimum Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree ideally within Economics/Business field (additional 5 years of Logistics and/or Transportation within the CRO industry experience may be substituted for education). • Five years of proven experience in Logistics and/or Transportation within the CRO industry, or a reputable international transportation company or an international industrial company with track records of managing Logistics team • Five years prior leadership experience
Preferred Qualifications • Specialization or certification within the supply chain and logistics field • Five years clinical trial logistic experience
