Who We’re Looking For
Toyota Financial Services is looking for a product manager who is obsessed with the customer, makes decisions with data, and moves with the urgency of a startup inside one of the world’s most trusted brands.
This isn’t a project management role. You won’t be taking requirements from the business and han ding them to engineering. You’ll be an individual contributor product manager own ing t he originations experience end-to-end and, more importantly, you’ll reimagine it. Loan origination is one of the most entrenched, friction-heavy processes in financial services — layers of paperwork, hand-offs, and waiting that customers have simply learned to tolerate. We want someone who looks at that legacy process and sees how much of it can be simplified, automated, or removed entirely, then makes it happen.
We’re looking for someone with a strong point of view on what modern origination should feel like — fast, transparent, and built around the customer rather than the institution — grounded in a real understanding of how lending works underneath. You’ll talk to real customers, dig into the data to find where the experience breaks down, and make hard trade-off decisions with incomplete information.
If you’ve thrived in a startup or early-stage product environment and yet can navigate, anticipate and address the needs of a large enterprise, this is the role.
What You’ll Be Doing
• Own the vision and implementation of the credit decisioning experience — the soft credit pull, the approval engine that determines loan amount, LTV, and rate tier, conditional data collection, co-borrower support, and clear handling of denials and next steps
• Own fraud and identity — partner with risk and fraud teams to define the identity verification and fraud-detection checks that protect customers and the business without adding friction for legitimate applicants
• Own the compliance foundation — ensure every credit decision and disclosure is defensible and meets regulatory requirements (TILA, ECOA, Fair Lending, CFPB), partnering closely with legal and compliance
• Own the product quality, testing strategy, and validation of business outcomes before release . Define success m etrics b eyond c onversion ( i .e .: Time-to-fund, Cost-per-origination, dealer experience satisfaction etc.)
• Talk to customers regularly — run usability tests, join discovery interviews, and use what you learn to shape the product
• Define product strategy through P ress Release + Frequently Asked Questions ( PR/FAQs ) and Product Requirements Documents ( PR Ds ) that articulate the customer problem, the solution, and how we’ll measure success
• Make prioritization decisions based on data, customer feedback, and business impact — not opinions or stakeholder loudness
• Partner with engineering and design — you bring the “what” and “why,” they bring the “how”
• Ship incrementally — define releases, set acceptance criteria, and get working software in front of users fast
• Instrument everything — define success metrics for approval rates, funnel conversion, and risk, build dashboards, and use data to decide what to build next
What You Bring
• 7+ years of product management experience on digital products related to financing
• Deep understanding of loan originations and consumer lending — how credit decisions get made, how risk is priced, and what drives approval, funding, and loss
• Experience with credit decisioning, underwriting, or approval systems — you understand the mechanics behind a lending decision, not just the customer-facing surface
• Ability to d rive strategic direction to increase auto decisioning and counter offers as we expand to support full spectrum cre dit to our customers
• Strong collaboration with business subject matter experts ( SMEs ) to close out open questions and business decisions to unblock the product, UX and engineering teams to main tain product development momentum
• Solid stakeholder management, including navigating conflicting priorities and facilitating trade-off discussions and business decision s
• Strong written communication — you can write a clear product brief that engineering, design, and business stakeholders all understand
• Startup mindset with enterprise polish — you’re comfortable with ambiguity, you move fast, but you can bring along critical stakeholders with patience and co
