Healthyhorns is the umbrella brand encompassing University Health Services, Counseling and Mental Health Center and Longhorn Wellness Center. Together, the departments work to enhance the health and well-being of students’ bodies, minds and lives in support of their academic and personal goals.
University Health Services (UHS) is an accredited on-campus medical facility dedicated to addressing the diverse healthcare needs of UT Austin students. UHS provides comprehensive services, including general medical care, public health education and specialty clinics. This position is not benefits eligible and will work up to 19 hours per week.
Purpose To assist health care professionals with the delivery of patient care services and to perform clinical skills as ordered by medical provider. Responsibilities • Assists with the evaluation and care of patients to be seen by UHS providers • Exhibits professionalism, teamwork, and exceptional customer service in all aspects of work • Performs department specific procedures and treatments per UHS Policies and Procedures • Actively participates in maintaining a safe and clean working environment • Maintains a level of knowledge conducive to providing high quality patient care • Demonstrates regular and punctual attendance pattern • Participates in other activities as assigned
Required Qualifications • High school graduation or GED • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program, certificate, or registration as a Medical Assistant • CPR certification within 90 days of hire • Experience using electronic medical records • Demonstrated ability to successfully work independently • Minimum one year of experience in an outpatient clinic • Experience with and a moderate comfort level using a personal computer • Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications • More than one year of experience as a Medical Assistant • Current Medical Assistant Certification (CMA or CCMA) • More than one year of experience using electronic medical records • More than one year of experience in an ambulatory clinic or college health clinic that provides Gynecological services • Demonstrated good communication skills, interpersonal skills, team-building skills, and professional demeanor
Salary Range $23.06 per hour
Working Conditions • Work on-site • May work around standard office conditions • May work around biohazards • Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation • Use of manual dexterity • Lifting and moving • Exposure to chemicals and commercial items typically found in offices, medical clinics, and building repairs/maintenance.
Work Shift • Work up to 19 hours per week • Monday – Friday, 8AM – 5PM, with one hour lunch • Hours may fluctuate based on business needs
