Are you a passionate, dedicated and a motivated continuous improvement leader looking for a new challenge? The Manufacturing Engineer II - OpEx position will be a role focused on using advanced Lean tools to optimize flow, eliminate capacity constraints and accelerate the rate of performance in our Tempe campus, through the deployment of the Medtronic Performance System (MPS). This will be accomplished by streamlining our processes, reducing inefficiencies, and minimizing unnecessary costs. Specifically, the individual on this role will deploy, and sustain continuous improvement programs around Zero Loss, Value Stream Excellence and Flow Acceleration with A3/DMAIC thinking and Lean Sigma toolsets, to support our growth.
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.
• Analyzes and designs sequence of operations to enable flow and improve efficiencies . Establishes methods for maximum utilization of equipment and personnel.
• Develops and implements plans for manufacturing layout or process changes and revisions to operating methods across value stream s.
• Collaborates with Operations and Engineering to document process and touch times and ensure accurate inputs to capacity models/simulations; identifies capacity constraints and necessary improvements based on future demand.
• Conducts time studies and line balancing to improve productivity, cost and reduce inventory . Performs cost and benefit analyses .
• Organizes, leads, and facilitates cross-functional project teams. Drive projects to successful completion using Project Management skills. Utilize technical skills associated with Lean-Six Sigma and other appropriate improvement techniques to identify and drive continuous improvement.
• Participate on NPD/AME projects to develop and deploy highly capable processes, including cost effective L ean tooling and equipment.
• Responsible for deploying the “ One- Best - Way” in alignment with the Medtronic Performance System (MPS).
• Train and coach Yellow Belts candidates.
Required Knowledge and Experience: • Requires a Baccalaureate degree and minimum of 2 years of relevant Engineering experience OR Master's degree with a minimum of 0 years relevant Engineering experience.
Nice to Have • Six Sigma Yellow Belt certification (or equivalent) .
• Advanced Lean certification (or equivalent) .
• Lean Sigma Green Belt training or certification.
• Cross functional business experience .
• Strong ability to see process improvement opportunities in the G e m ba and across value streams .
• Experience leading continuous improvement programs ( e.g. Maintenance Excellence, Belt Certification Program) in manufacturing environments.
• Track record of delivering results through continuous improvement
For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.
