Role Overview

Schumacher & Co. is seeking an analytical, organized, and product-minded Portfolio Development Manager .

Every pattern, colorway, and collection we bring to market shapes what "home" looks like for the next generation. As Merchandising Manager, you'll help decide which products earn a place in Schumacher's portfolio and shape how that portfolio evolves for the next 30+ years. This role sits at the intersection of design and commercial strategy: you'll sharpen assortment decisions, strengthen the data and processes behind every launch, and bring rigor to how we plan and grow our line. It's a role for someone who wants real ownership over outcomes, not just process.

You'll partner closely with Design, Product Development, Sales, and Operations to move collections efficiently from concept through launch. The ideal candidate is proactive, comfortable working independently, and able to take ownership of projects while collaborating effectively across teams.

What you’ll do:

• Analyze SKU productivity data to inform assortment decisions, product priorities, and strategic assortment gaps to maximize return on launch costs

• Manage product development calendars, key milestones, and launch timelines across multiple collections.

• Lead cross-functional check-ins, track deliverables, identify risks, and escalate delays or data gaps.

• Coordinate the creation of new products and SKUs in the company’s ERP system & Product Information Management System.

• Gather, validate, and maintain accurate product data, including classifications, attributes, dimensions, units of measure, vendor details, and other required fields.

• Manage ERP updates throughout the product lifecycle, including new product setup, product changes, status updates, and discontinuations.

• Maintain clear trackers and documentation for SKU creation, product updates, approvals, and launch readiness.

• Partner with cross-functional teams to resolve data discrepancies, system issues, and incomplete product information.

• Support data-clean-up initiatives and improve product setup, maintenance, and launch processes.

• Support annual collection planning, including collection frameworks and SKU targets.

• Partner with Design to allocate products across collections and balance creative vision with commercial potential.

• Track product and pattern performance to identify portfolio gaps, redundancies, and opportunities.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of experience in merchandising, product operations, assortment planning, product development, buying, planning, consulting, analytics or a related field .

• Experience in home furnishings, textiles, interiors, luxury, fashion, retail, or another design-led , high SKU count industry is a plus, but not required .

• Experience working with ERP, PIM, PLM, or other product-management systems is a plus.

• Strong analytical, project-management , and communication skills.

• Proficiency in Excel.

• Highly organized, detail-oriented, collaborative, and comfortable managing multiple priorities
