Job Posting Title: IT Student Associate, College of Natural Sciences ---- Hiring Department: College of Natural Sciences ---- Position Open To: All Applicants ---- Weekly Scheduled Hours: 19 ---- FLSA Status: Non-Exempt from FLSA ---- Earliest Start Date: Aug 16, 2026 ---- Position Duration: Expected to Continue Until Dec 31, 2026 ---- Location: UT MAIN CAMPUS ---- Job Details: General Notes We are seeking proactive and goal-focused student workers to join our IT Support teams. As a member of our IT team, you will play a key role in providing assistance to CNS OIT users and departments. This position offers an excellent opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience in IT support while contributing to the smooth operation of our department.

IMPORTANT: Applicants must be actively enrolled at the University of Texas at Austin. Must be authorized to work in the US.

Purpose Assist the CNS IT team with Tech Support, Inventory, or Security tasks and provide excellent customer service to end users.

Responsibilities • Use the ServiceNow ticketing system to triage incoming requests and assign them appropriately.

• Provide prompt, courteous, and effective customer service.

• Transport equipment (computers, printers, phones) between CNS buildings on the UT Main Campus.

• Perform technical tasks including hardware setup, password resets, network patching, and software updates.

• Support ongoing projects in CNS IT Support, Inventory, and Security.

• Collaborate on developing and improving technical processes as well as new procedures and improvement of existing processes.

• Assist with office administrative duties and communications.

• Other related responsibilities and functions as assigned.

Required Qualifications • Must be actively enrolled at the University of Texas at Austin

• Must be authorized to work in the US

• Must not have additional position within the university

• Must be able to commit to the schedule defined

• Ability to work independently, able to complete tasks with limited oversight

• Strong written communication skills

• Detail oriented

• Motivated with a strong work ethic

• Able to lift 40lbs

Preferred Qualifications • Fast learner

• Experience writing procedural documents or technical documentation

• Familiarity with Microsoft 365 applications (Outlook, Excel, Word, OneDrive, SharePoint, etc.)

• Strong customer service skills

• Excellent problem-solving

• Knowledge of computer hardware/software

• Experience with hardware and software support

Salary Range $20.00 per hour

Working Conditions May work around standard office conditions. Repetitive use of computer equipment. Use of manual dexterity. Reasonable lifting and moving. Wear appropriate office attire. Work as a team member as well as independently. Accept supervision. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required.

Work Shift Work performed on-site during regular business hours, Monday through Friday. Must be available to work minimum 2-hour shifts at a time. Shift times will be determined based on candidate availability; minimum 15 scheduled weekly hours, maximum 20 weekly hours.
