Impact Investing Portfolio Management Vice President

About this role

We are seeking a Vice President to join   the Cit i Impact Fund team in a portfolio management role .  The $500 million Citi Impact Fund was launched in 2020, born out of the belief that venture capital investing and market based solutions could play a meaningful role in advancing opportunity for economically vulnerable communities. We make direct equity investments in "double-bottom line" U.S.-based start-ups that are leveraging technology and applying innovative solutions to help address some of society's most pressing challenges .  Citi Impact Fund is part of Citi Community Investing and Development.  

Based in Charlotte, NC with frequent travel to New York, the candidate will work alongside members of the investment team   as well as cross-functional partners in Operations and Finance   on   portfolio management activities including impact measurement and management, portfolio financial management, individual portfolio company key events, follow-on investments, portfolio reporting and strategic projects .    In addition, this person will partner with subject matter experts across Citi to drive collaboration and find opportunities to advance the success of our portfolio companies and the   field as a whole .

• Social infrastructure:  Solutions that expand access to essential services including housing,   healthcare   and transportation for underserved communities  

• Future of work: Solutions that provide access to stable, quality jobs, offer modern, relevant education and training for workers and students and re-imagine how we balance work and life.  

Key Responsibilities :  

• Manage a portfolio of investments ,   monitoring   company performance, tracking financial and impact results ,   and preparing   internal quarterly portfolio reviews and other analyses  

• Support follow-on investment opportunities, including diligence, approvals,   execution   and structuring  

• Support the fund’s quarterly portfolio review processes for both the direct and fund (LP) investment portfolios , including d eck creation,   metrics   and performance   analysi s    

• Support the Fund’s impact measurement and management processes and development of the annual impact report  

• Support value creation , post-investment   support   and cross-functional collaboration   projects ,   both   interna l   and external facing ,   to support portfolio companies and founders  

• Lead internal partner engagement on governance and operational items over the life cycle of an investment  

• Manage portfolio analysis and data projects for Citi risk and control functions   as well as regulatory requirements  

Qualifications:

• Commitment to the Citi Impact Fund’s mission and desire to innovate in impact investing  

• 2+ years of experience in private equity / venture capital investing   and/or portfolio management ; total of   4- 5+ years of experience in relevant role (investment banking, strategy consulting, corporate finance,   or direct business experience in one of the fund’s investment verticals)  

• Strong preference for   investing or portfolio management   experience in at least one of Citi Impact Fund’s key verticals; specific experience or interest in impact investing strongly preferred  

• Candidate must have strong   understanding of   finance and investment acumen including an ability to develop and manage complex   analysis,   conduct rigorous primary market and industry diligence, prepare valuation   a nalysis   and synthesize in written investment   and portfolio reporting   materials  

• Strong communication   and relationship management skills   as well as an entrepreneurial spirit  

• Attention to detail and desire to deliver   high quality   work products that drive key decisions  

• Confident interpersonal skills and comfort contributing to discussions at senior levels  

• Natural curiosity for learning new things and proactively sharing information with others  

• Strong sense   of urgency in driving projects to completion and ability to prioritize assignments and work in a fast-paced environment  

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in technical/analytical discipline
