About this role

MISSION

Create a world where lawyers do what creates most value for their clients: judgement calls, litigation, and face-to-face relationship work.

ABOUT US

The law firm has not changed in a hundred years. Its unit of production is still an hour of a lawyer's attention, and its only way to grow is to buy more of those hours. Every insight a firm produces is billed once and then lost.

So we are building the whole thing again from the infrastructure up. Every system a practice actually runs on: intake, conflicts, research, drafting, review, matter management, billing. Rebuilt so the machine does the work and the lawyer makes the calls. Judgement, advocacy and client relationships stay with lawyers.

And every case teaches the next one. Not just operationally, where a workflow gets reused, but on the legal level: the argument that worked, the position that held, the counterparty's playbook, the clause that survived negotiation, the reasoning a court accepted. A traditional firm loses all of it the moment the file closes. Ours captures it, structures it, and has it ready the next time a similar matter walks in. The firm gets better with every case rather than merely busier.

We are already operational and established in Switzerland, where the firm runs on this infrastructure today. California is next. The US practice does not exist yet. That is the point, but it is not a bet on an untested idea. It is the second market for a model that already works, built by a team whose legal AI is already in daily use by 8,000 lawyers.

THE ROLE

This is not a job. We are not hiring you.

We are looking for one lawyer to build the AI-native law firm with us, structured the way California requires and the way it should be built anyway:

- You own the law firm. Your licence, your entity, your clients, your professional judgement. Nobody on our side has any say over it, and that is not negotiable from either direction.

- We incorporate the MSO together. You and Omnilex co-found the management services organization as founders, with real equity on both sides. The MSO builds and runs everything that is not the practice of law: the AI systems the firm runs on, engineering, operations, finance, marketing, admin, recruiting.

- The MSO serves the firm under an arm's-length services agreement and takes a services fee for it.

Two hats, then: the lawyer who owns and runs the firm, and the co-founder who builds the MSO that makes the firm faster than any firm has been. Both start empty. You build both.

WHO YOU ARE

- You are admitted in California and in good standing, senior enough that clients hire you rather than the letterhead behind you.

- You bring a book. You know GCs, partners, founders and alumni who take your call, and you can turn those calls into engagements.

- You have thought about leaving to start your own firm and the only reason you haven't is that you did not want to spend three years building a back office to do it.

- You want ownership, not a salary line. Founder equity in the MSO plus the economics of your own firm is more interesting to you than any partnership track.

- You know the ethics cold: independence of judgement, fee-sharing, confidentiality, unauthorised practice. You see MSO structures for what they are, and you know exactly where the limits sit.

- You like solving cases more than you like talking about solving cases. The legal craft is where your energy comes from.

- You are tech-curious. AI in law does not threaten you; it is the most interesting thing to happen to the profession in your career.

- You are comfortable being early. No brand, no precedent bank, no support staff on day one, and that reads as opportunity to you, not risk.

Bonus: experience building or advising on MSO, ABS or other alternative legal service structures; prior ownership of a P&L or a practice group; litigation experience alongside advisory work; a second language.

WHY BUILD THIS WITH US

- You get to build a firm without building a back office. The licence, the entity and the judgement are yours; the machinery is what we co-found together.

- You are a co-founder of the MSO, not an employee of it. Founder equity, a seat at the table, and upside that scales with both entities.

- Your expertise stops evaporating. Every matter you solve becomes a service that outlives it and compounds across every client after.

- You get to be first. There are only a very few AI-native law firms yet. The person who builds one that works will define what the next generation of firms looks like.
