About this role
WHAT WE BUILD
Each year, natural disasters cause $160 billion in losses in the US.
ResiQuant exists to keep the built world insurable as catastrophe intensifies.
Two nearly identical buildings can have completely different fates in an earthquake, hurricane, or wildfire — and the expertise necessary to tell them apart isn't available when underwriters need it most. That's where ResiQuant comes in.
Think Harvey, but for property underwriting: our AI agents do what used to take underwriting teams days and weeks — read messy broker submissions, virtually inspect buildings, validate the structural data that drives the vast majority of catastrophe loss variation, and price risk against a carrier's own guidelines — in minutes.
WHO WE ARE
A team of scientists, ex-founders, AI and structural engineers, and product builders from Pear and YC companies. Backed by LDV Capital, Pear VC, Foothill Ventures, and strategics. We've designed buildings, contributed to national building codes, and built products people love.
Co-founders Omar Issa and Francisco Galvis are structural engineering PhDs out of Stanford's Blume Earthquake Engineering Center — the birthplace of modern catastrophe modeling.
- Omar is a second-generation structural engineer who deployed on post-disaster response at Ridgecrest and served on NIST and USGS code committees; previously Arup and KATERRA.
- Francisco is a third-generation engineer who survived the 1999 Armenia, Colombia earthquake, ran post-earthquake inspections in Turkey and after Hurricane Ian, and led San Francisco's non-ductile concrete ordinance work; previously Thornton Tomasetti.
THE ROLE
Every logo we have was closed by the two founders — mapping workflows with chief underwriting officers, shadowing underwriters through renewals, partnering with shops from startup MGAs to publicly traded carriers.
You own the revenue engine that surrounds our selling: the machine that finds the right accounts in a finite market, gets us in front of them, and moves them to signature. The deals run five to seven figures, on sales cycles of one to three months. We keep the demos and the close to start — you own everything around them, and that boundary moves as your deals do.
You own the process. You run the machinery of every deal; the work is three engines:
Demand — get us into rooms. Own the account map. Run deeply researched outbound. Operate our warm channel — advisors, investors, and industry relationships — as a system instead of a lucky accident. Run conferences end-to-end: selection, pre-event outreach, the booth, and the 48-hour follow-up machine. Keep a lightweight content heartbeat alive.
Deal velocity — get rooms to signatures. Run the pilots: environments coordinated, customer data chased, evaluation cadence kept on rails. Own the critical middle of enterprise selling — security questionnaires, procurement steps, vendor onboarding. Build the collateral that closes: proposals, decks, the one-pager a champion forwards to their CFO.
The operating system — make it compound. Build the systems underneath everything above with the stack we already run (Attio, Claude Code) — account research, signal capture, follow-up automation. Own the pipeline numbers: the weekly review, conversion and velocity, the GTM slide in the board deck. Run the feedback loop from the market into product: objections, feature asks with business context, competitor moves.
WHO FITS
We index on agency over tenure. Our best-fit candidates are ex-founders, former chiefs of staff, BizOps operators, and operators who happened to pick up an MBA — roughly one to four years of doing real things. A GTM title is nice to have, not required. Insurance experience isn't required either; sharp people learn this market fast.
What is required: judgment on top of AI, not just fluency in it. Writing that sounds like a human. The presence to hold a conversation with a chief underwriting officer at a conference reception. And a track record of owning an outcome — a number that was yours alone — because everything in this role comes back to that.
You're not a fit if: you are unexcited about in person work / 5-days in office, or your proudest GTM story is a sequence you optimized; "the AI/script/tool told me that" has ever been your answer to why; you measure your week in activity; you need the demo seat on day one; or you've never owned a number that was yours alone.
WHY JOIN US
- Mission: Keep the built world insurable as catastrophe intensifies — this work decides whether coverage exists at all.
- Founding seat: The first commercial hire. The playbook you write is the one every GTM hire after you runs.
- Real ownership: The revenue engine is yours end to end — accounts, systems, conferences, collateral — working directly with both founders every day.
- Growth: A front-row seat to enterprise AI sales, in the room from first touch to signature with some of the most sophisticated shops in the market.
WHAT WE OFFER
- Competitive salary + founding-hire equity.
- Full medical, dental, and vision benefits; 401(k) with company match.
- Daily lunch + commute support in our SF office.
- Relocation support for the right candidate.
