Fire Service Manager Johnson Controls is a global leader helping customers protect people, places, and performance through fire protection, life safety, and building solutions. In this role, you will help lead a district service team with a strong focus on customer satisfaction, safety, and operational excellence.
Role Overview The Fire Service Manager drives customer satisfaction by supervising technicians, service sales representatives, inspectors, and administrators who support district service customers. This role ensures contractual obligations are fulfilled, customer concerns are resolved quickly, and service operations are managed effectively across Fire Alarm, Security, Fire Sprinkler Systems, Special Hazard Systems, and Extinguishers/Commercial Kitchen Hood service.
Key Responsibilities • Lead and support a multi-disciplinary service team serving district customers. • Ensure contractual commitments are met and customer complaints related to service and collections are resolved promptly. • Support new service sales, revenue growth, profitability, and market potential across business segments. • Manage operating expenses, accounts receivable/collections, manpower, capital, and inventory against the approved financial plan. • Strengthen customer communications and relationships from initial contact through order acquisition, delivery, installation, and service. • Train service personnel, build team capability, and help improve efficiency and productivity across the district. • Hire, develop, and evaluate local service staff while maintaining open communication across departments. • Participate in technician ride-alongs to review safety compliance, productivity, and performance. • Ensure employee safety training is complete and up to date, and support workplace accident investigations as required. • Comply with federal, state, and local laws, as well as company policies and procedures.
How You Will Do It • Own outcomes with accountability, safety, and integrity by making sure the service organization meets commitments, follows company policies, and supports a safe work environment. • Stay close to the work and remove obstacles for customers by spending time with the team, understanding service issues firsthand, and responding quickly to complaints and collection concerns. • Improve every day through continuous improvement, candor, and problem-solving by monitoring performance, coaching team members, and taking action on productivity, quality, and financial results. • Win as one team by building trust across technicians, sales, inspectors, administrators, and internal partners, while encouraging diverse perspectives and strong communication. • Use data and operational discipline to manage P&L performance, staffing, inventory, and collections against business goals. • Reinforce training, development, and clear expectations so the team can support current needs and future growth.
Qualifications • 5-10 years of experience in an integrated systems sales/service environment, with a portion of that time in a supervisory role. • Strong, positive leadership skills and an action-oriented approach. • Strong understanding of P&L components and how they relate to operational performance. • Proficiency with MS Office and online systems. • Demonstrated management and leadership abilities, including training, team building, presentation, negotiation, administration, and effective interaction with customers and internal teams. • Ability to pass a pre-employment background screening and drug test. • Valid driver’s license and a driving record that meets company requirements.

HIRING SALARY RANGE : $100,100 - $150,350 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.) This role offers a competitive Bonus plan that will take into account individual, group, and corporate performance. This position includes a competitive benefits package.
