About this role
ABC4 News (ABC4/CW30) wants to talk to you if you are smart, energetic and innovative. We have an Executive Producer opening in our newsroom. The Executive Producer will be responsible for news across all media platforms during the early morning and morning hours, on both ABC4 and CW30. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: • Supervises morning and midday newscasts Monday-Friday • Works with/teaches morning producers to be their best • Sets direction for content coverage • Manages newsroom during the morning hours, and is responsible for breaking news coverage • Execute strategies that engage and grow audiences across all media devices • Supervises Integrated Media Center during the early morning hours • Plans/executes teases and marketing elements for the morning newscasts • Hires producers for the morning newscasts • In charge of any discipline action that needs to be taken • Files FCC reports
Requirements and Skills: • Bachelor’s degree in Communications/TV-Film, or equivalent experience in a related field • At least 1 year of experience in television or radio broadcast/production • Digital experience a plus • Must be able to interact with anchors, producers, reporters, photographers, engineering and news managers • Excellent verbal and written skills • Detail Oriented • Strong news judgement, journalistic integrity and understanding of viewer/readers expectations • Must understand state-of-the-art television and digital technology
Physical Demands & Work Environment: • Must be able to sit, conduct telephone conversations, use electronic mail, write letters and memos, conduct face-to-face discussions with individuals or groups, make decisions without supervision, make decisions that impact the results of co-workers, work near others, work outdoors occasionally in all weather conditions, and work indoors in environmentally controlled conditions. • In addition, must be able to lift, set up and operate equipment weighing up to 25 pounds, and can handle, control or feel objects, tools or controls. Repetitive movements are required. Work may be conducted in extremely bright or inadequate lighting conditions.
