ENVIRONMENTAL SPECIALIST

This role will work within the environmental team to develop and maintain due diligence and ecological assessment programs at SpaceX’s Bastrop, TX site. Additionally, this specialist will work in a cross functional setting alongside Environmental Engineers to help manage and maintain proper compliance in a high-throughput mass manufacturing environment. This includes work in, but not limited to, construction inspections, air emission inventories, and community right to know. Additionally, the specialist will assist in assessment and permitting plans for upcoming land, construction, and expansion efforts to ensure we meet critical deadlines and remain compliant with current and incoming requirements.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Own environmental site assessments (ESA) (Phase I & Phase II) for pre-construction due diligence, including greenfield and brownfield land integration , if applicable : coordinate field surveys, sampling, and data handoff so newly acquired parcels can be brought into the common development without delaying construction

• Support consultants and contractors in the field and on data packages for ESA reports, wetland delineations, threatened and endangered species assessments, habitat evaluations, and related ecological studies as facility/construction layouts change and expansion efforts progress; collect and process field data that engineers use to set constraints for design and construction teams

• Prepare or review data tables, maps, lab packages, and draft report inputs; quality-check field and lab data; archive field and process notes, maps, and submission records across air, stormwater, and waste programs

• Own stormwater construction inspections and support environmental engineers in various environmental compliance requirements , such as air emission inventories, tier 2, and annual waste summary data gathering and processing to ensure reporting is completed on time so that site remains in compliance

• Work with other Environmental Specialists to ensure field programs remain in compliance, work with environmental engineers when preparing for regulatory stakeholder inspections and information requests

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

• 3 + years of professional experience in environmental field work, sampling, environmental data gathering/processing, or compliance support in an industrial, construction, or land-development setting

• High school diploma or equivalent

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental /civil/chemical engineering, environmental science /studies , biology, ecology, geology, environmental management, or related /equivalent field

• 5 + years supporting due diligence, ecological assessments, or environmental compliance in industrial construction or high-throughput manufacturing

• Experience supporting air emission inventories, community right-to-know / Tier II data gathering, or construction stormwater inspection documentation

• Experience with GIS or mapping tools for wetland, habitat, and REC data layers used by design and construction teams

• Strong knowledge of EPA Clean Water Act / NPDES, TCEQ TPDES industrial stormwater and wastewater programs, SWPPP/BMP practices, and related Texas water quality requirements

• G ood understanding of one or more governing programs and policies such as the clean water act , TCEQ TPDES , NEPA, an d EPCRA programs

• Working knowledge of Phase I/II environmental site assessments, CERCLA/due diligence practice, wetlands/species field methods, and related Texas (TCEQ/TPWD) requirements

• Experience sustaining construct ion inspection s , stormwater sampling, and discharge data quality under multi-shift operations, outdoor industrial activity, frequent site layout/process changes, and variable production rates
