About this role

The Director of Career Services serves as the primary advisor to the Vice Chancellor of Workforce and Development regarding career development of students and in fulfilling education, work-and-learn, and placement needs of employers in the campus service area. This position is responsible for leading the Career Coaching and Talent Connections areas of the Career Link campus organization. This position is responsible for advancing strategies for a self-sustaining organization with related performance measures. This position is also responsible for implementing the Career Link strategy and overseeing ongoing support of campus team members. The Director leads training initiatives, provides coaching and consultation to the campus Career Link team members, serving as a strategic partner to develop strategies and plans to assist students and employers.

Salary Range: $60,000-65,000 (based on education and experience)

Major Responsibilities:  

• Oversee and   manage   campus   career services   team and operations.  

• Guides the daily activities of Career Coach, and   Talent Connection Manager   to drive outcomes tied to students’ Career   Development   Plans (C D P), work-and-learn experiences for students and employers, placement of students in jobs upon graduation, and talent pipelines for employers.  

• Partners with Systems Office Vice President of Career Coaching and Career Experiences to build out and plan to meet and exceed related campus goals.  

• Partners with campus Deans, Program Chairs, Directors, and   departments lead   to   develop   strategies, projects, and initiatives to help the Career Link department and campus reach its goals.   

• Develops and maintains a culture for the   Career Services   team that is student- and employer-centric, based upon demand-driven, voice-of-the-customer, data-oriented solutions leveraged at the campus service area level.  

• Oversee and   manage   all operations in the Ivy Threads and Career Services VR rooms. This includes managing inventory, programming, interns, student referrals, events , and so on.    

• Assists in creating and maintaining strategic alliances and building long-term relationships with economic development entities, corporations, community groups, local agencies, local K-12s, etc.  

• Works alongside the   Vice   Chancellor   of Workforce and Development   to identify and attract public and private funding opportunities to support the current and ongoing financial needs of the   CAREER LINK .  

• Works collaboratively with the   Vice   Chancellor   of Workforce and Development   and other campus leaders to successfully implement initiatives and meet or exceed metrics tied to the   CAREER LINK .  

• Works with Systems Office Executive Director of Career Coaching to provide training, tools, and other resources to campus Career Coach(es) to ensure they are working   effectively with students in preparation and tracking of C D Ps, attainment of work-and-learn experiences, career placement, and other related career preparation needs.  

• Works with Systems Office Executive Director of Career Experiences to ensure work-and-learn, placement, and other career opportunities are available to students and employers.  

• Conducts and   assists   with Career Coaching appointments and Talent Connections placements to ensure students are being coached and placed.   

• Assists   with purchasing materials for Career Link workshops,   events, and   skills   training(s) .  

• Assists   with processing invoices, membership dues, and other miscellaneous items   the team may need.

Minimum Qualifications:  

• Bachelor’s degree required.  

• A minimum of five (5) years related experience required.   

• Demonstrated skills and abilities to concurrently manage numerous tasks, some with conflicting priorities required.  

• Excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills required.  

• Commitment to student learning outcomes, staff development, and diversity required.  

• Must be able and willing to travel to and from campuses and professional development activities.  

• Must have ability to work within an entrepreneurial framework and scale a large project.
