Working Monday through Friday from 3:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. under the direction of the Custodial Services Supervisor, you will Empower Success across the evening shift by leading by example, training team members, coordinating daily assignments, and maintaining high operational standards. Whether executing complex floor refinishing, setting up for major campus events, or handling urgent cleanup needs, you will Advance Fearlessly—adapting quickly to real-time challenges, prioritizing safety, and ensuring clear communication across the facilities team.
Key Job Responsibilities: • Utilizes basic equipment and supplies to clean assigned facility areas and remove waste and recyclables
• Responds to facility emergency and hazardous situations, and escalates incidents according to established policies and procedures
• Schedules, monitors, and communicates with staff and assists with basic training
• Maintains clean and clear walkways to ensure they are free of debris, litter, snow, and ice
• Documents and reports repairs, violations, and pest control needs
• Maintains organization of supply areas and equipment, documents inventory, and requests additional supplies as needed
• Monitors and secures facility interior and exterior entrances and reports issues to appropriate entities
Department: Facilities Management - Operations
Compensation: Hourly pay of $18.58.
This position will earn an additional $0.80 per hour for all weekend hours worked, as well as for all hours worked between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m.
This position is not exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
Required Qualifications: • High School Diploma or equivalent at time of application
• Possession of or eligibility to obtain a valid drivers license upon appointment
• Basic Computer skills including the ability to use e-mail and internet
Preferred Qualifications: • Bilingual, preferably in Spanish, Hmong, Somali, or Oneida
• Knowledge of the proper methods, materials, and equipment for a wide range of general custodian work
• Ability to operate cleaning equipment such as a vacuum cleaner or a floor scrubber
• Knowledge of basic safety precautions including the safe and proper use of toxic chemicals, and knowledge of heaving lifting methods to ensure safety
• Must have the ability to maintain high standards of cleanliness
• Ability to tolerate temperature extremes when performing snow removal activities
Physical Qualifications: • Physical abilities to lift 50 lbs. from the floor to waist occasionally
• Physical abilities to lift 30 lbs. from the floor to overhead occasionally
• Physical abilities to stand and walk continuously throughout an eight hour shift
• Ability to push, pull, reach, bend, twist, stoop, kneel, move furniture, perform repetitive motions, overhead work, frequent stair and ladder climbing
Conditions of Appointment: Position is a full-time University Staff appointment. The work hours for this position will be 3:30 p.m. - 11:30 p.m., Monday through Friday on the Green Bay campus.
A criminal conviction investigation and pre-work screen examination will be conducted on the finalist(s). In addition, if the final selected candidate has prior work history within the last 7 years with Universities of Wisconsin, a personnel file review check for employee misconduct will be completed. A six-month probationary period is required for this position. In compliance with the Wisconsin Fair Employment Act, the University does not discriminate on the basis of arrest or conviction record.
