About this role

About the Role:

Grade Level (for internal use): 12 The Team   The Structured Finance (SF) Methodologies team   is responsible for   a large portfolio of criteria and models spanning the global SF universe, including CMBS, RMBS, CLO, Covered Bonds, Non-Traditional and ABS asset types. The criteria and models that the group develops and   maintains   help analysts produce independent credit ratings that increase S&P Global’s analytical relevance in the market. As a Methodology Model SME, the position is embedded within the SF team and works closely with the Model and Criteria SMEs, who are responsible for developing and maintaining a growing portfolio of cutting-edge quantitative tools and analysis that enable analysts to continually produce high-quality and transparent credit analysis.  

The Impact   The Associate Director enhances S&P Global Ratings’ ability to produce high-impact, insightful research and models and supports the continued growth of S&P Global   Ratings’ relevance in an evolving market by synthesizing, analyzing, and deriving value from datasets, developing innovative analytic solutions and tools, and helping to build data analytics capabilities across the SF team.

Responsibilities  

• Develop and   maintain   nimble, user-friendly quantitative solutions and tools that will be used by credit analysts globally in credit rating analyses and research publications .  

• Synthesize and analyze large datasets to derive analytic value and insights for credit rating analyses and research publications .  

• Proactively   identify   and implement creative solutions to drive continuous improvement across models and analytical workflows.  

• Provide analytical insight and technical guidance to help the team resolve complex, non-routine problems and tasks.  

• Maintain close interaction with analysts, model developers, and subject matter experts to ensure that data analyses and tools effectively inform analytical decisions .  

• Work closely with the Model and Criteria Validation group to ensure a high-quality product .  

• Write clear, concise specifications and development documentation to ensure consistent and thorough documentation   in accordance with   policy and procedures .  

• Support criteria projects and be an active member of projects, including testing of new concepts, data gathering, writing and preparation of materials.  

• Coach and guide junior developers on technical tasks and best practices; support criteria projects by  assisting  with tool development, testing, and data gathering   

Compensation / Benefits Information     S&P Global   states   that the   anticipated   base salary range for this position is $ 148,491   to $ 176 ,000 USD   ( This section is only applicable to   US Candidates) . Final base salary for this role will be based on the individual’s geographic location, as well as experience level, skill set, training, licenses, and certifications. What   We’re   Looking For :  

Basic Qualifications  

• An S&P Global employee at this level would typically have 5 to 7 years of experience in  quantitative modeling or software development supporting financial   analysis.   

• Knowledge of   capital markets and financial instruments, with an emphasis on credit risk modeling preferred .  

• Basic understanding of  database modeling/design and applications, including knowledge of SQL and experience in databases such as Oracle, Sybase, or Access .  

• P roficiency   in Microsoft Excel/VBA and programming languages such as R, Python, C++, and   MATLAB .  

• Persistent with a natural curiosity about credit markets and technical details .  

• Displays well-rounded communication skills that implement good listening techniques, clear and good verbal skills. The ability to communicate across a wide range of groups and personalities internally and externally.  

• Works well in a team environment, focusing on collaboration and adapting to the needs of a diverse team.  

Additional   Preferred Qualifications:  

• Bachelor's degree in Finance , Financial Engineering, Statistics, Quantitative Finance, Computer Science, Mathematics, Economics, or a related field   

• Self-starter with the ability to work independently and collaborate effectively across diverse teams.  

• Able to summarize complex quantitative concepts clearly and concisely for technical and non-technical stakeholders.  

• Experience supporting multi-stage projects from planning through execution.  

• Strong time management,   prioritization   and   deadline-management   skills.  

• Effective communication, interpersonal and facilitation skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.  

• Strong customer service orientation and   stakeholder-management   skills.
