About the Role:
Grade Level (for internal use): 12 The Team The Financial Services team within S&P Global Ratings is a globally distributed sector team covering banks, brokers, exchanges, and clearinghouses across Canada and the United States. The team values analytical excellence, collaborative relationships, and a commitment to delivering high-quality credit research that supports integrity and transparency in financial markets.
Responsibilities and Impact Team Contribution & Capability Building • Coach and mentor junior analysts on complex credit matters, contributing to the analytical development of the broader team.
Core Analytical & Delivery • Lead the credit ratings process for assigned financial institutions, from quantitative analysis and issuer engagement to committee presentations and rating publication.
• Manage ongoing surveillance for a portfolio of 10 to 12 bank credits using advanced fundamental credit analysis techniques.
• Conduct detailed research and advanced analysis on complex industry topics, including capital frameworks, operational risk, and liquidity risk, producing credit insights, peer comparisons, and industry commentaries.
Stakeholder & Market Engagement • Engage with issuers, investors, and internal partners across functions, managing competing priorities and delivering analytical insights to meet client and business needs.
• Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to build consensus and deliver well-supported analytical conclusions.
Compensation / Benefits Information US Candidates Only S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is USD $120,000 to $190,000. Final base salary for this role will be based on the individual's geographic location, as well as experience level, skill set, training, licenses, and certifications. Canadian Candidates Only S&P Global states that the anticipated range of compensation for this position is CAD $110,000 to $163,000. Final compensation for this role will be based on the individual's geographic location, as well as experience level, skill set, training, licenses, and certifications. In accordance with Ontario's regulations effective January 1, 2026, this job posting provides information on expected compensation. S&P Global will not be utilizing artificial intelligence in our hiring process. What We're Looking For Required Skills and Experience • An S&P Global employee at this level would typically have 5+ years of relevant experience in credit or equity research, banking, risk management, or underwriting.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze financial statements, apply accounting concepts, and conduct advanced credit analysis of complex financial institutions.
• Demonstrated understanding of fixed income and debt capital markets, applied in a credit analysis or research capacity.
• Demonstrated client-facing and relationship management skills, with experience communicating analytical findings to issuers, investors, and senior stakeholders in written and verbal formats.
• Proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint for financial analysis and reporting.
Preferred or Helpful Experience • Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent required. A master's degree or professional certification (such as CFA) is highly valued. We welcome candidates from traditional finance disciplines as well as diverse academic backgrounds that support innovative and critical thinking.
• FRM (Financial Risk Manager) designation or equivalent risk management certification.
• Experience managing resources and operating with autonomy in complex analytical environments.
• Experience using coding or programming tools to support financial analysis or data processing.
• Demonstrated ability to apply analytical findings to improve operational effectiveness.
Additional Information • We require all candidates who reach the final stage of our interview process to attend at least one in-person interview, which is ordinarily at your nearest S&P Global Ratings office. This must be completed before we can proceed to an offer.
• Employees are required to work from the office a minimum of two days per week.
