www.urec.uark.edu Summary of Job Duties: The Assistant Director of UREC Sports is responsible for all aspects of UREC Sports (Club and Intramural Sports). This role directly manages club sports while providing leadership and guidance to intramural support staff. Specific responsibilities for this position include supervising full-time and part-time staff, managing the annual budget, evaluating compliance in program area risk management practices, and assisting with the strategic plan and vision for UREC Sports.

Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.  Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications   • Bachelor’s degree in recreation, physical education, student affairs, higher education, sport management, or a related field from an accredited institution of higher education  

• At least two years of full time, professional work experience in collegiate recreation and intramural sports, club sports program administration or related field.

• Supervisory experience with student and graduate assistant staff 

Preferred Qualifications   • Master’s degree in recreation, physical education, student affairs, higher education, sport management, or a related field from an accredited institution of higher education 

• Experience developing and implementing recreation programs that effectively meet the needs of students or other populations

• Experience in the training and supervision of multiple part-time staff with emphasis on intramural sports officials and supervisors

• Active involvement in campus recreation and/or higher education professional organizations

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities   • Knowledge of membership and facility management software 

• Knowledge of risk management policies and procedures 

• Knowledge of current recreation programming trends and issues  

• Ability to balance multiple assignments, deadlines, and tasks 

• Ability to work in a team environment
