We invest heavily in our people and our partners, giving you the platform to enrich lives, safeguard futures and grow your career. What We Do As one of the largest private markets investment firms globally, we provide innovative solutions to institutional and private wealth investors around the world, specializing in flexibility and full-spectrum access. The Opportunity: The Vice President, Capital Markets will work under the direction of the Principal, Capital Markets to support the design, negotiation, and execution of financing solutions for Hamilton Lane's private market products, with a primary focus on subscription line facilities. This individual will take the lead on subscription line financings and negotiations, while also supporting NAV facilities, asset-backed structures, and other strategic credit arrangements led by the Principal. A key part of this role is building and maintaining strong, lasting relationships with banks and lenders — this individual will be a primary relationship contact for lender counterparties and needs strong interpersonal skills to build trust and credibility over time. The role will also assist with credit facility reporting and compliance, including borrowing base calculations and covenant monitoring. The VP will collaborate closely with Portfolio Management, Legal, Investment Teams and external lenders to execute financing strategies aligned with Hamilton Lane's growth objectives.
Your responsibilities will be to: Subscription Line Financing (Lead) • Lead the negotiation and execution of subscription line facilities across multiple strategies and jurisdictions, under the direction of the Principal. • Draft and refine term sheets and financing documentation for subscription line transactions, ensuring alignment with Hamilton Lane's risk and operational standards. • Monitor credit market conditions, interest rate trends, and lender appetite specific to subscription line financing.
Market Engagement & Relationship Management • Serve as a primary relationship contact for subscription line lenders, building trust and credibility with bank counterparties over time. • Proactively build and maintain relationships with banks, institutional lenders, and capital markets participants — through regular engagement, not just active transactions. • Represent Hamilton Lane professionally in meetings, calls, and lender presentations, projecting confidence and building long-term rapport. • Understand lender priorities and perspectives to strengthen negotiating position and help secure competitive financing terms. • Support Hamilton Lane's representation in broader capital markets discussions, syndication processes, and lender presentations. • Stay informed on regulatory developments and market innovations impacting private market financing.
Financing, cash management, and compliance • Oversee the execution, renewal, and compliance of treasury-related facilities and arrangements, ensuring accurate drawdowns/paydowns, covenant tracking, and adherence to contractual obligations. • Maintain and enhance policies, procedures, and internal controls that provide an appropriate control environment over treasury activities and support audit readiness.
Modeling, reporting, and decision support • Develop and maintain treasury and financing models, dashboards, and reporting packages that provide insight into cash, capital, and credit utilization for internal and external stakeholders. • Prepare or oversee cash and capital trend analyses and key treasury metrics to inform management decision-making and strategic planning.
Capital Markets Support • Support the Principal in structuring and executing NAV facilities, asset-backed structures, and other strategic credit arrangements. • Support evaluation of alternative financing structures (e.g., securitizations, private credit solutions, hybrid facilities) to enhance flexibility and cost efficiency. • Assist in coordinating with fundraising and investor relations teams to assess how financing solutions impact investor returns and product competitiveness.
Credit Facility Reporting & Compliance (Support) • Support borrowing base calculations, covenant monitoring, and compliance certificate preparation across facilities; the Principal retains ultimate ownership of the reporting and compliance function. • Assist in coordinating reporting processes and controls with Fund Accounting, Portfolio Management, and Legal. • Help track facility utilization, availability, and upcoming maturities/renewals, and flag risks or issues to the Principal. • Support timely and accurate delivery of lender-required reporting and certifications.
Risk Management • Support strategies for refinancing, restructuring, or unwinding facilities based on market conditions and portfolio needs. • Help implement risk management practices to mitigate exposure to interest rate, liquidity, and counterparty risk across facilities.
Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in private markets, asset management, or fund financing origination (e.g., at a bank, subscription line lender, or fund finance origination team). • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with a demonstrated ability to build trust and credibility with bank and lending counterparties. • Experience negotiating and stru
