Vice President, International Tax Planning & Compliance

Overview:

The Vice President, International Tax Planning & Compliance is a senior leadership position responsible for developing and executing the company's global tax strategy while ensuring compliance with international, U.S., and local tax regulations.

This individual serves as a strategic business partner to executive leadership, finance, treasury, legal, corporate development, technology, and regional business teams. The role oversees international tax planning, US international tax compliance, tax risk management, tax controversy support, M&A support, and the tax implications of emerging business models, including digital assets. The successful candidate combines deep technical tax expertise with strong commercial acumen, leadership capabilities, and the ability to operate effectively within a complex multinational environment.

Role:

International Tax Planning • Develop and execute global tax planning strategies that support business objectives while managing tax risk. • Monitor and assess the impact of legislative, regulatory, and policy changes across jurisdictions. • Advise senior leadership on international tax developments, including OECD initiatives, Pillar Two, digital services taxes, and evolving cross-border tax rules. • Structure legal entities, financing arrangements, and operating models to achieve tax-efficient outcomes. • Partner with treasury, legal, and finance teams on global capital deployment strategies. Global Tax Compliance • Oversee US international tax compliance processes. • Ensure timely and accurate filing of tax returns and other regulatory reporting obligations. • Maintain strong internal controls and governance frameworks supporting tax compliance. • Lead relationships with external advisors, auditors, and tax service providers. • Support continuous improvement through technology, automation, and process optimization. Digital Assets & Emerging Technologies • Serve as the tax subject matter expert for digital asset initiatives, including cryptocurrencies, stablecoins, blockchain-based payment solutions, tokenized assets, and digital wallets. • Evaluate tax consequences of digital asset transactions across multiple jurisdictions. • Monitor global regulatory developments affecting digital asset taxation and reporting requirements. • Advise product, legal, finance, and technology teams on the tax implications of emerging payment technologies and digital business models. • Develop governance and compliance frameworks supporting digital asset activities. • Assess transfer pricing, indirect tax, withholding tax, and permanent establishment considerations associated with blockchain-enabled operations. Mergers, Acquisitions & Strategic Transactions • Advise on transaction structuring and integration planning. • Manage post-acquisition tax integration and risk mitigation efforts in the area of US international tax. Tax Risk & Controversy • Identify, assess, and manage US international tax risks. • Support tax examinations, audits, appeals, and litigation support activities. Leadership & Stakeholder Management • Lead and develop a high-performing US international tax team. • Build strong partnerships across business units and functions. • Present tax matters to executive leadership in a practical and concise way. • Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, inclusion, and continuous improvement.

All About You:

Education • Bachelor's degree in Accounting • CPA, JD, L.L.M. (Taxation), MST, or equivalent advanced tax credential preferred.

Experience • Extensive US international tax experience. • Significant leadership experience within a multinational corporation, Big Four accounting firm, law firm, or a combination thereof. • Proven experience designing and implementing global tax planning strategies. • Extensive experience with U.S. international tax and multinational compliance requirements. • Knowledge of transfer pricing principles and OECD guidance. • Experience supporting mergers, acquisitions, restructurings, and strategic transactions. • Expertise in taxation of digital assets, cryptocurrency transactions, tokenized products, blockchain ecosystems, and evolving digital economy business models strongly preferred.

Technical Expertise • U.S. international tax; OECD Pillar Two and global minimum tax; transfer pricing; tax accounting (ASC 740 / IAS 12); tax compliance and reporting; M&A tax structuring; digital asset taxation; blockchain and distributed ledger tax considerations; tax technology and automation; and enterprise risk management.
