The   CTO, Software   organization at   HP   is a global team of thousands of engineers and leaders shaping the future of how software and platform technologies power HP’s product portfolio. The organization   is responsible for   the vision,   str a te g y , architecture, engineering, and operations of the software and platform technology stacks behind HP’s products. These include modern, AI-native, end-to-end platforms spanning developer experience, data and AI, security, infra str ucture,   reliability   and device software, as well as software stacks for customer-facing HP applications. Our mission is to deliver magical, AI-enabled experiences to tens of millions of customers worldwide. Beyond powering today’s products, the organization also helps define and shape HP’s next era of growth through technology innovation and active engagement across the software and AI ecosystems.  

The   Vice President,   CTO   Operations   role serves as the   operational   right hand to the CTO, Software at HP and is accountable for aligning strategy, programs, and communications to accelerate the organization’s impact across HP. This role oversees the organization’s   strategy   and   transform ation, engineering executive operations, technical program management, and communications. This senior, strategic position is critical to advancing HP’s software-led business   transform ation and growth by enabling new efficiencies and operating models.  

This role reports to the Chief Technology Officer ,   Software at HP. The leader will serve as a trusted partner to C-level executives and stakeholders across product and technology, with the opportunity to deliver sustained, company-wide impact at HP—a global technology powerhouse and long-standing Fortune 100 company with more than 28,000 patents, over   $55 billion   in annual revenue, and 58,000 employees worldwide.  

Responsibilities  

• Lead by example, fostering a culture of accountability,   operational   excellence, and a customer-first mindset across the organization.  

• Attract, build, manage, and develop a high-performing team of talented   operations   &   execution   leaders with diverse   ex pertise ,   perspectives, and backgrounds.  

• Develop and implement an operating model and stakeholder engagement model for the newly created   CTO   Operations organization, serving as the accountable leader and primary interface to stakeholders to   trans late the company’s business   str a te g y   and goals into technology and engineering deliverables, leveraging best-in-class operating models to drive execution and engineering excellence, and surfacing execution insights and con str a ints to inform ongoing   str a te g ic decisions.  

• Oversee   the   organization ’s   str a te g y   and   trans form ation planning, including execution of the   trans form ation   str a te g y   and change management, OKRs, business metrics, analytics and reporting, and the enablement of new engagement models to resolve organizational bottlenecks.  

• Lead a central team of Chiefs of Staff delivering   proactive   executive operation support to engineering leaders across the CTO, Software   organization   to accelerate execution and improve engineering productivity .  

• Oversee central technical program management, driving execution excellence for cross-functional engineering initiatives across the CTO, Software organization.  

• Oversee internal and   external   communications for the CTO, Software organization, including all-hands meetings, employee engagement, and onboarding, acting as the “front door” for key communications for the organization , as well as key external communications and speaking engagements.  

Qualifications  

• Current or prior experience   operating   at the VP level i n   str a te g y , operations ,   or   related   areas   within an established technology company.  

• 15+ years of experience in   str a te g y , operations, or related areas, including 8+ years leading organizations through senior leadership roles.  

• Proven success building and   leading h igh-performing teams   that drive   str a te g ic ,   operational ,   and execution   capabilities   within l arge, complex product or   engineering   environments.  

• Experience   driving   str a te g y   and/or   operations   within engineering   organizations delivering   products used by millions of customers and/or large-scale commercial businesses generating more than $100 million in annual revenue.  

• Str ong   track record   of improving   operational   efficiency and engineering effectiveness through   str a te g ic thinking and disciplined execution.  

• Experience leading or scaling functions such as   trans form ation, chief of staff, technical program management ,   and/or communications .  

• Demon str a te d ability to influence senior executives and drive alignment across large, matrixed organizations with multiple stakeholders and competing priorities.  

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical and   operational   topics clearly to executive audiences.  

• Str ong collaboration and leadership presence, with a reputation for building trust, attracting top talent, and developing diverse, high-performing teams.
