This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin’s Blue Moon landers and related products. To further Blue Origin's mission of millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface.
As the Vehicle Requirements and Design Parameters Lead for the MK1 Lunar Lander Vehicle Engineering team, you will be a program leader defining and developing the requirements and design for the system, developing the processes and strategies for managing specifications, design parameters, interfaces, and technical performance measures for the vehicle. Your passion, expertise, and skills will impact the design, development, and integration of the spacecraft and mission success.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to: • Define requirements and design processes and strategies, including the tools and infrastructure required to execute your vision • Own the vehicle requirements specification, vehicle design parameters, and technical performance measures • Own the vehicle product and specification tree • Own the vehicle design and construction standards requirements • Understand and assess impacts of vehicle design trades against requirements, parameters, and budgets • Review and approve vehicle design and requirement changes • Define the configuration and change control processes for controlling and managing design parameters, interfaces, budgets, and requirements • Manage the definition of interface requirements, ICDs, and their verification • Understand and define the relationships and traceability between requirements, design parameters, technical budgets, ICDs, program plans, and technical performance measures • Develop and execute plans for completing requirements and design products, coordinating across Integrated Product Teams • Perform compliance and traceability assessments and be able to report key metrics and issues effectively to program leadership and stakeholders
Minimum Qualifications • B.S. degree in aerospace engineering, systems engineering, or related field • 5+ years of engineering experience performing activities such as requirements definition, design criteria definition, traceability, interface definition, design documentation, integration, verification, and validation • Detailed knowledge of space systems design and requirements • Ability to lead and coordinate requirements and design products across stakeholders and experts from varying engineering fields • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills, and ability to communicate technical information effectively • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum
Preferred Qualifications • Experience leading technical reviews for a complex spaceflight or aviation system • Experience with design and construction standards for space systems • Experience with lunar, deep space, or planetary missions • Expertise with requirements management and systems engineering tools
Base Pay Range for: CO applicants is $110,938.00 - $155,312.85
WA applicants is $121,023.00 - $169,432.20 Other site ranges may differ
