Organization: VHVI Non-Inv Diag Vascular Job Summary: This position serves as an entry level registered, or registry eligible, Vascular Sonographer with less than one year experience. The Vascular Sonographer 1 will be trained and must be willing to learn all aspects of Vascular Lab testing which includes diagnostic ultrasound testing of extracranial, intracranial, peripheral vascular and visceral vascular systems. The Vascular Sonographer 1 must have basic knowledge of pathology/ultrasound and be able to meet all IAC Vascular Lab accreditation standards for CMEs. The Vascular Sonographer 1 may travel to other Vascular Lab regional locations to become familiar with working at other locations. If not registered, the Vascular Sonographer 1 will be required to achieve a Vascular credential (RVT or RVS) within one year of hire. . Prefer one year dedicated vascular lab experience, will accept all levels of experience including new grads from a dedicated vascular ultrasound program.  Rotating holidays, occasional weekend coverage, no call.  

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES • Review medical records, obtain patient history and perform physical exam pertinent to vascular disease and prior vascular procedures.  Review physician order and obtain clarification if needed. • Perform vascular diagnostic ultrasound testing of extracranial, peripheral and visceral vascular systems. Collect data and provide documentation of test results for reading physicians, following department specific protocols and diagnostic criteria to support accurate clinical diagnosis.  Obtain assistance from supervisor as needed. • Reviews and evaluates all images for completeness and diagnostic quality before presenting them to the interpreting physician. • Provides preliminary results in electronic medical records.  Notify referring physician of significant abnormal findings before discharging the patient from the Vascular Lab.  Provides final report data for reading physicians. • Maintains appropriate care of all ultrasound equipment. Keeps work areas clean and organized.  Obtain technical support as needed from equipment manufacturers or biomedical electronics department. • Ensures patient privacy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA.  Adheres to OSHA standards for safety, infection control and equipment use. • Communicate effectively with physicians, medical staff, nurses and office staff to support coordinated and efficient patient care.

TECHNICAL CAPABILITIES • VASCULAR ULTRASOUND (FUNDAMENTAL AWARENESS): Limited experience in Vascular Ultrasound.  Possesses sufficient fundamental proficiency to successfully demonstrate Vascular Sonography in practical applications of moderate difficulty.  Generally, works under the direction of others while gaining experience and accomplishing assignments. • COMPLIANCE (FUNDAMENTAL AWARENESS): Can explain and apply basic statutory instructions in normal situations on the job. Understands the principles upon which the rules and regulations are based. Appropriately escalates problems relating to rules and regulations in timely and effective manner. • DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENT (FUNDAMENTAL AWARENESS): Demonstrates knowledge of diagnostic equipment. Capable of successfully finding and resolving problems using diagnostic tools without requiring support and instruction from others. • PATIENT DOCUMENTATION (FUNDAMENTAL AWARENESS): Possesses sufficient knowledge to be capable of successfully delivering patient documentation services while seeking support and instruction from others if needed. Able to learn and become more proficient in increasingly difficult conditions.
