Summary Under the direction of the Senior Director for Mental and School Health and as a part of a multidisciplinary team the Urgent Care Mental Health Specialist will provide on-site and remote direct therapeutic services to pediatric patients, ages 5 – 26, and their families, and adults, including assessments, treatment plans and discharge planning. The specialist will also engage with staff and families in the urgent care center that they are covering to provide information, education, brief consultations and referrals for patients and staff seeking assistance with mental health issues. The specialist will be available for consultations both virtually and in person when not otherwise in treatment sessions. The specialist will be proactively engaged with families and staff to promote mental health services, provide timely information and provide education and direction for staff. The specialist will also provide staff and families with referrals to PM Mental Health services or other needed services as appropriate.

Onsite Locations Available: Riverdale, Mamaroneck, Forest Hills, Syosset, Selden!

Schedule: Mondays - Fridays: 12pm-8pm or 1pm-9pm shifts

Part Time positions (20+ hours) available and also are benefits eligible!!

Description

• Provides pediatric   and adult   mental health t herapy as part of a large, multi-disciplinary behavioral health team in an innovative pediatric version of the   integrative   primary/mental health   care model.   

• Provide highest quality therapy services   to   patients  

• Participate in clinical team meetings   with Urgent Care   and MH staff  

• Maintains weekly scheduled therapy appointments   

• Completes required documentation and paperwork including clinical assessments, treatment planning, and   updating of   patient medical records within   48 hours   of patient visits.   

• Possesses excellent communication   and engagement   skills     

• Utilize standardized tools (PHQ9,   GAD7   etc.. ) to   identify   patients that can   benefit   from ongoing MH services and help families navigate treatment  

• Able to make rapid assessments and   follow   through   on recommendations   in a timely manner  

• Demonstrate deep knowledge of various mental health issues and symptoms and   assist   staff in UC to   identify   patients   demonstrating   mental health needs  

• Demonstrate a deep knowledge of child development and   assist   families and staff who verbalize concerns to determine   appropriate assessment   and next steps  

• Able to   professionally   represent   PM Mental Health when meeting with local providers,   hospitals   and payers  

• Able to make independent clinical decisions with a minimum of   guidance  

• Demonstrates deep understanding to the intersection of mental health and physical health issues  

• Expert in various modalities of   short-term   therapy   

Compensation range: $70,000-$85,000

The salary/rate range listed here has been provided to   comply with   local regulations and   represents   a potential base salary/rate for this role. Please note that actual salaries/rates may vary within this range above or below, depending on experience and location. We look at compensation for each individual and   based   on experience and qualifications.  

Qualifications • Must be independently licensed in state of practice .   

• Knowledge of medical terminology.   

• Understanding the roles of the healthcare team .    

• Exceptional interpersonal skills.   

• Deep understanding the psychosocial aspects of illness and health.   

• Experience of community facilities and resources for discharge planning.   

• Superb written and verbal communication skills.   

• Strong crisis intervention skills.   

• Excellent short-term counseling skills.   

Compensation: Compensation Dependent Upon Location and Experience
