About this role

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and nine (9) years of experience appropriate to the area of assignment/field including five (5) years managerial experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or training from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved. Job Description: Salary: $110,000.00 -$130,000.00 per year; DOE

Under the direction of the Vice Provost for Academic Innovation and Student Achievement, and Dean of University College, performs work of considerable difficulty in planning, organizing, directing and coordinating the administrative and operational activities of University College including but not limited to: strategic planning, forecasting budgeting, accounting, human resources administration, staff supervision, internal procedures, facilities management, purchasing, contract administration and space planning. May administer and/or coordinate programs, academic personnel issues and assist management as requested or directed.

Essential Duties • Develops, maintains and administers operational, capital budget and general business services for state, local, sponsored and auxiliary accounts.

• Assists in the development of university and campus strategic initiatives, goals, objectives, fiscal plans and performance outcomes.

• Directs department budget planning and management operations and activities.

• Develops and prepares business models, pro forma financial statements, and agreement scenarios to support financial decision-making.

• Coordinates grant proposals, providing financial and budgetary information.

• Develops and prepares statistical and financial analyses and projections.

• Establishes fiscal guidelines to sustain a sound financial status.

• Counsels and advises senior leadership including, but not limited to; VP's and Directors in fiscal administration.

• Coordinates and supervises the work of current Business and HR Staff.  

• Supports the areas of academic services and academic support.

• Interprets and applies pertinent rules, regulations, policies and procedures set forth by university or other governing agencies.

• Participates in the development, review and revision of university policies.

• Directs personnel matters such as payroll actions, classification, recruitment, interviewing, selection, new hire actions, employee grievances and other applicable issues.

• Coordinates salary adjustments and monitors for compliance university guidelines.

• Assists with negotiating leases and administer contracts and leases as required.

• Serves or represents departmental/area interests on committees and boards.

• Coordinates or assumes other duties or projects as assigned or directed.

Desired Qualifications: • Knowledge of management principles and practices.

• Knowledge of accounting and budgeting practices and principles, including government accounting principles for college and university external financial reporting.

• Knowledge of management and supervisory principles, practices, and techniques.

• Knowledge of state and federal laws pertaining to human resource management.

• Knowledge of state and federal laws pertaining to academic personnel policy and procedures.

• Knowledge of state and federal laws pertaining to budgeting and accounting practices.

• Skill in preparing and analyzing complex numerical computations and comprehensive reports.

• Skill in effectively managing, supervising and evaluating assigned staff and providing leadership.

• Skill in coordinating activities and establishing priorities.

• Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships and resolution of conflicts across organizational lines.

• Skill in both oral and written communication.

• Skill in computer applications and technology.

• Ability to prepare and analyze complex financial models and forecasts.

• Ability to effectively coordinate and supervise work of others, meeting deadlines, collaborating and working in a team environment.

• Ability to prepare business models, pro forma financial statements, and agreement scenarios to support financial decision-making.

Working Environment: • Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating a computer mouse (75%); frequently required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work (25%).

• Use a calculator, telephone, computer (monitor, keyboard and mouse), printer, fax and copier.
