About the Center for the Study of Race and Democracy (CSRD) CSRD contributes to the LBJ School’s mission of preparing policy, government, and thought leaders with the knowledge, critical thinking, and intellectual tools to have impact in an increasingly diverse local, regional, national, and global political, social, economic, and cultural milieu.
Purpose The Center for the Study of Race and Democracy seeks a motivated and dependable undergraduate student to assist with programming, communications, and administrative operations. Working under the supervision of the Graduate Assistant and Center staff, the student will gain hands-on experience supporting nationally recognized public programs and academic initiatives.
Responsibilities • Assist with preparation, setup, and execution of lectures, conferences, receptions, workshops, and public events.
• Create and schedule social media content, photography, graphics, flyers, and promotional materials.
• Assist with maintaining website content, event calendars, and digital communications.
• Perform general administrative duties including filing, scheduling assistance, database updates, inventory management, and responding to inquiries.
• Support research, special projects, and other Center initiatives as assigned.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Excellent organizational abilities
• Dependability and professionalism
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace
Preferred Qualifications • Experience with Canva, photography, video editing, or social media
• Interest in public affairs, history, race and democracy, communications, or public service
• Experience working in a university or nonprofit environment
Salary Rate $17 per hour Working Conditions • Typical office environment.
