About this role
Job Description Summary The Turbine Aerodynamics Fellow will lead advancements in high and low-pressure turbine design for aircraft gas turbine engines and industrial gas turbine products. This role requires accountability for functional, business, and overarching company objectives. As a Fellow within our Chief Engineering Office, you will develop and integrate processes to address organizational needs, tackle complex challenges within your area of expertise, engage in long-term strategic planning, and contribute to the company's overall business strategy. Additionally, the Turbine Aerodynamics Fellow collaborates with the Turbine Aerodynamics Design Board on responsibilities specific to a Controlled Title Holder (CTH).
Job Description
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: • Recognized as a Subject Matter Expert in Turbine Aerodynamic Design and Analysis, collaborating across various domains within and outside of the pyramid discipline and demonstrating expertise across multiple phases of the product/technology lifecycle (e.g., design, manufacturing, assembly, testing, field operations, and repair). • Promote systems thinking, risk mitigation, and problem-solving methodologies (e.g., TOPS8D, PSR) while actively engaging stakeholders. • Utilize and mentor others in the Design Execution Quality (DEQ) process (e.g., DCRs, DRs, producibility reviews) and apply robust product/process improvement tools to reduce significant variations impacting product performance and process yield. • Identify opportunities for improvement and drive the implementation of improved designs, methods, processes (including design, industrialization, and production), tools (including AI), machinery, or systems across domains, sites, or organizations within the pyramid, challenging the status quo while managing risk. • Evaluate gaps and develops, communicates, and maintains Engineering or Manufacturing Practices Manuals, such as Design Practices, Design Process Templates, and Lessons Learned. • Demonstrated record as a technology visionary able to utilize academia trends, industry trends and GE proprietary advancements to influence Design Boards and organization leaders to develop and execute robust strategies. • Lead program issue resolution efforts to meet customer and/or regulatory expectations across domains, sites, or organizations within the pyramid. • Optimize designs and processes to maximize business value through cross-domain, site, or organizational collaboration. • Drive coaching, mentoring, and training initiatives within the domain, site, or organization, with a focus on engaging early-career personnel. • Identify and address strategic gaps in domain, site, or organizational health. • Foster a culture of psychological safety, ensuring all voices are heard, respected, and encouraged, particularly when leading initiatives. • Demonstrate calm maturity and clear thinking under pressure and effectively influence organizational leadership.
QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS: • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college/university in Aerospace Engineering or Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline with an emphasis in turbomachinery aerodynamics, and a minimum of 15 years of relevant technical experience.
OR • Master’s Degree from an accredited college/university in Aerospace Engineering or Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline with an emphasis in turbomachinery aerodynamics, and a minimum of 14 years of relevant technical experience.
OR • PhD from an accredited college/university in Aerospace Engineering or Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline with an emphasis in turbomachinery aerodynamics, and a minimum of 12 years of relevant technical experience.
DESIRED CHARACTERISTICS:
• Master’s Degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering relevant to turbomachinery aerodynamics with minimum of 14 years of engineering experience OR Doctorate Degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering focused on aerodynamics/compressible flows • Ability to apply first principles physical thinking to solving problems and developing technology strategy within the discipline • Knowledge of advanced Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and aerodynamic testing techniques • Self-starter, utilizing innovative problem solving to drive solutions on complex issues • Flexible, friendly, and inclusive; comfortable working in multi-disciplinary global teams • Demonstrated group facilitation and collaboration skills • Exceptional communication skills, comfortable preparing and giving impactful technical presentations • Highly motivated and passionate • Keen listener and innately driven to succeed
This position offers the flexibility to be performed remotely or onsite at our headquarters in Cincinnati, Ohio. This role will require in-person attendance for New Hire Orientation on Day 1
The base pay range for this position is $150,000 - $190,000 USD Annual. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus based on a percentage of your base salary/ commission based on the plan. This posting is expected to close on 8/26/2026.
