About this role
We are seeking an experienced Traveling Field Mechanic to join our Equipment team. This candidate will be supporting our Diamond Grinding crew. While experience with diamond grinding equipment is not required, a strong mechanical background and the ability to work independently in a field environment are essential. This role is based out of the Grand Prairie/Waco area, but will require full-time travel nationwide to support our crews across the country.
Responsibilities • Perform maintenance and repair work on company equipment, including heavy equipment, trucks, and trailers • Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment issues, and develop solutions to resolve them • Perform preventative maintenance to ensure optimal equipment performance and minimize downtime • Ensure that all equipment-related activities are carried out in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements • Manage relationships with vendors and equipment manufacturers, negotiating contracts and resolving any issues in a timely manner • Develop and maintain equipment-related reports and metrics, and communicate equipment-related information to stakeholders • Identify and implement opportunities for process improvements in equipment maintenance and repair • Travel extensively (cross-country) with overnight stays • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications • High school diploma or equivalent • Minimum 5 years of experience in heavy equipment maintenance and repair, preferably in a construction setting • Strong knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and diesel systems • Strong technical skills, with the ability to diagnose and troubleshoot complex equipment issues • Strong communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences • Experience using equipment maintenance or repair software preferred • Willingness and ability to travel nationwide for extended periods
