Position Summary The Thin Films Equipment Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and improving semiconductor manufacturing equipment within the Thin Films area. This role supports high-volume production by executing preventive and corrective maintenance, recovering equipment from faults, and partnering with engineering teams to drive equipment reliability, uptime, and process stability. The ideal candidate is a hands-on technical professional who enjoys solving complex equipment issues, working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, and continuously learning new technologies and equipment platforms. Primary Responsibilities Equipment Reliability & Maintenance • Perform preventive maintenance (PM) activities on Thin Films deposition equipment in accordance with established procedures and schedules. • Execute corrective maintenance (CM) activities to restore equipment to production safely and efficiently. • Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, vacuum, RF, gas delivery, robotics, and automation systems. • Respond to equipment faults and production-impacting issues while minimizing downtime. • Perform equipment startups, recoveries, qualifications, and return-to-production activities following maintenance events. • Maintain equipment performance while ensuring compliance to maintenance specifications and quality standards.

Troubleshooting & Problem Solving • Utilize structured troubleshooting methodologies and root cause analysis techniques to identify equipment failures. • Analyze tool data, alarm histories, system logs, and equipment trends to prevent repeat failures. • Escalate complex issues appropriately while providing detailed failure analysis and repair documentation. • Support long-term corrective actions that improve tool reliability and reduce recurring issues.

Production Support • Monitor equipment health and take proactive action to prevent production interruptions. • Work directly with operators, process technicians, maintenance engineers, and equipment engineers to address manufacturing issues. • Support shift operations during tool recoveries, process interruptions, new tool installations, and engineering evaluations. • Help maintain workstation performance targets for availability, throughput, and quality.

Safety & Compliance • Adhere to all Micron safety policies, including lockout/tagout (LOTO), hazardous energy control, chemical safety, and cleanroom protocols. • Conduct all work using approved procedures, training requirements, and risk assessments. • Identify and report unsafe conditions, equipment risks, and process concerns. • Ensure accurate maintenance documentation and compliance with manufacturing standards.

Continuous Improvement • Participate in TPM, reliability improvement, and cost reduction initiatives. • Support implementation of equipment modifications and engineering change activities. • Assist in developing and improving maintenance procedures, checklists, and troubleshooting guides. • Contribute ideas that improve safety, equipment uptime, maintenance efficiency, and overall manufacturing performance.

Digital Manufacturing & AI Adoption • Utilize digital manufacturing tools, dashboards, and automated reporting systems to support equipment monitoring and maintenance effectiveness. • Leverage AI-enabled tools and data analytics platforms to accelerate troubleshooting, knowledge sharing, and decision making. • Support adoption of emerging digital solutions that improve technician productivity, maintenance quality, and equipment reliability. • Actively contribute to a culture of continuous learning and technology adoption within the Thin Films organization.

Required Qualifications • Associate degree in Electronics, Mechatronics, Industrial Maintenance, Engineering Technology, Military Technical Training, or equivalent experience. • Minimum 2 years of hands-on technical troubleshooting experience in manufacturing, industrial maintenance, semiconductor, military, aerospace, automotive, or related industries. • Ability to diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical systems. • Experience interpreting technical drawings, schematics, procedures, and maintenance documentation. • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. • Effective verbal and written communication skills. • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. • Ability to work in a cleanroom environment and safely lift up to 40 pounds.

Preferred Qualifications • Semiconductor equipment maintenance experience. • Experience with CVD, PECVD, PVD, ALD, or plasma processing equipment. • Knowledge of vacuum systems, pumps, RF systems, gas delivery systems, robotics, wafer handling systems, and automated manufacturing equipment. • Experience with Applied Materials, Lam Research, TEL, Canon Anelva, ULVAC, or similar semiconductor equipment platforms. • Familiarity with SPC, FDC, Tableau, equipment monitoring systems, and manufacturing data analysis. • Military electronics, avionics, nuclear, or maintenance experience.

Success Measures Successful technicians in this role will: • Maintain strong safety performance and procedural compliance. • Consistently execute high-quality preventive maintenance. • Demonstrate effective troubleshooting and equipment recovery capability. • Improve tool uptime and operational performance. • Develop proficiency across multiple Thin Films equipment platforms. • Positively influence team performance, equipment reliability, and manufacturing results.
