This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin’s Blue Moon landers and related products. To further Blue Origin's mission of millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface.

As a key member of the Lunar Core Components Heat Transfer team, you will be applying your skills to provide thermal analysis expertise to our Lunar vehicle architectures. In this role you will contribute to a team of Thermal Engineers simultaneously developing groundbreaking thermal hardware for lunar landers and driving those designs through build, test, and verification. We are looking for someone to apply their technical expertise, leadership skills, and commitment to quality to positively impact safe human spaceflight. Qualifications: • Minimum of a B.S. degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering • 3+ years of relevant Thermal Engineering experience • Strong grasp of heat transfer and fluid system fundamentals • Familiarity with heat exchangers, cold plates, radiators, and other common spacecraft hardware • Experience designing, sizing, building, and/or testing hardware • Basic experience with CAD software; preferably Creo • Experience with computational fluid dynamic (CFD) simulation methods for component-level analysis • Experience with thermal analysis software tools such as Thermal Desktop, FloCAD, MATLAB, Python scripting, CFD++, Ansys Fluint • Demonstrated experience working in cross-functional teams to deliver results
Desired: • M.S. or Ph.D. or equivalent experience in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, or related technical subject areas • 5+ years of relevant aerospace experience • Solid understanding of pumped fluid loop hardware such as pumps, cold plates, radiators, valves, heat exchangers, etc and semi-passive devices like sensors and heaters • Experience solving a variety of thermal problems demonstrating breadth in application • Experience with computational fluid dynamic (CFD) simulation methods for component-level analysis • Significant experience with thermal analysis software tools such as Thermal Desktop, FloCAD, MATLAB, Python scripting, CFD++, Ansys Fluint • Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tools experience • Demonstrated anchoring first-principles models to higher-fidelity simulations and test data • Experience modeling steady-state and transient systems, specifically thermal and fluid systems • Understanding of Aerospace best practices, methods, and procedures • Experience supporting testing and correlating models with test data • Experience creating P&IDs of fluid systems for compressible, incompressible, and two-phase systems

Base Pay Range for: CA applicants is $107,136.00 - $149,990.40
CO applicants is $98,208.00 - $137,491.20
WA applicants is $107,136.00 - $149,990.40 Other site ranges may differ
