About this role
Test Engineer The Opportunity: When a user tries new sof tware, they expect it to be intuitive and run smoothly. Functionality, reliability, and user experience are key to successful sof tware development. The hardware architecture must be designed to perform correctly, consistently and safely. This all means rigorous sof tware and hardware testing. That’s why we need you, an experience d test engineer who knows how to thoroughly test sof tware and hardware and work with designers or developers to make sure our team releases the best product possible.
As a Test Engineer on our team, you’ll use your experience to work with testers, developers, and engineers to evaluate sof tware and hardware developed for U.S. Space Force which is used to improve the detection and visibility of satellites, objects, space debris, and track activity. You’ll create a test plan with test cases based on user stories. Using automation to streamline, using automated and manual processes, you’ll generate data and implement the test cases to observe how the sof tware and hardware performs, then document the results and communicate defects to the development team so they can start improving the functionality.
You’ll automate continuous security and performance testing and monitor the health of the radar system. You’ll also broaden your experience in radar technology, space domain awareness, missile defense, and the space surveillance network ( SSN ) . Additionally, you'll support fault detection, fault isolation, and fault recovery efforts during system integration testing from subsystem to the system level. During, and following, all related system integration and test efforts, you'll also support the aggregation and analysis of technical data while providing key inputs to final acceptance test reporting.

What You’ll Work On: • Perform sof tware and hardware testing on the radar system.
• Prepare test plans, procedures, and reports.
• Ensure effective communication between assigned engineers and all other participants in the integration and testing process.
• Support Agile sof tware development team.
• Support the development of system test solutions in accordance with project technical, schedule and cost constraints.
• Participate in, prepare, and execute comprehensive system or element level test plans and procedures and test readiness reviews.
• Document test requirements and met hodologies in the requirements management system.
• Review system engineering documentation to ensure test plans and met hodologies meet system needs and are accurate, comprehensive, consistent and complete.
• Support the development of system integration plans, procedures, and scenarios used in the conduct of sof tware or hardware system integration testing.
• Participate in engineering peer reviews as a document origi nato r or reviewer to ensure technical quality and engineering rigor is appropriate.
• Document and record integration activities, including plans, procedures, results and deficiencies.

You Have: • 5+ years experience with software and hardware testing
• 3+ years of experience conducting formal requirement verification test procedures
• 3+ years of experience preparing test reports
• 2+ years of experience in the development of sof tware requirement verification procedures
• Ability to travel to OCONUS and CONUS locations up to 30% of the time
• Top Secret clearance
• Bachelor's degree in a STEM field
Nice If You Have: • 2+ years of experience with missile defense, space tracking, or satellite operations
• Experience working as part of an Integration and Test team across multiple engineering disciplines
• Experience as a member of a team integrating large, complex systems comprised of various hardware and software elements
• Experience generating Modeling and Simulation ( M & S ) scenarios
• Experience with international integration or testing
• Experience with sof tware development integration and test met hodologies
• Experience with large ground data processing system integration
• Knowledge of Agile development met hodologies
• Ability to support Integration and Test / Checkout ( IATC ) of Hardware and Sof tware Configuration Items
• CompTIA Security+ Certification
Clearance: Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information ; Top Secret clearance is required.

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $86,800.00 to $198,000.00 (annualized USD).
