• Execute prototype builds from incoming material inspection through final validation while ensuring product quality, traceability, and configuration control.

• Perform low-voltage electrical integration, PCB handling, subsystem installation, functional verification, and prototype rework activities.

• Diagnose assembly and integration issues, perform root cause analysis, and partner with cross-functional engineering teams to implement corrective actions and design improvements.

• Support Engineering, Power Electronics Test & Validation, and Manufacturing teams during prototype builds, engineering validation activities, product launches, and urgent program priorities.

• Utilize Jira to manage prototype build activities, document build progress, engineering deviations, inspection results, and test documentation while maintaining complete product traceability.

• Review engineering drawings, Bills of Materials (BOMs), work instructions, engineering change orders (ECOs), and linked Jira work items to ensure prototype builds are completed using the latest approved documentation.

• Maintain accurate building documentation, inspection records, quality documentation, and engineering traceability in accordance with prototype development requirements.

• Identify and implement process improvement opportunities that enhance safety, quality, throughput, repeatability, and operational efficiency.

• Support the fabrication, modification, and rework of prototype components by incorporating engineering feedback throughout rapid product development cycles.

• Maintain laboratory readiness by organizing tooling, equipment, inventory, and work areas utilizing Lean Manufacturing principles and 5S methodologies.

• Operate safely around electrical systems while adhering to EHS requirements, PPE standards, laboratory safety procedures, and established quality practices.

• Support the onboarding and training of new technicians by promoting standardized build processes, quality expectations, and laboratory best practices.

• Support multiple prototype programs simultaneously while adapting to evolving engineering priorities, program schedules, and changing development requirements.

Technical Qualifications:

• Strong understanding of electrical circuits, wiring, PCB handling, connectors, fasteners, torque specifications, and mechanical assembly principles.

• Proficiency with precision measurement instruments, electrical test equipment, hand tools, and power tools.

• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, Bills of Materials (BOMs), work instructions, and assembly documentation.

• Experience supporting prototype manufacturing within fast-paced engineering development environments.

• Working knowledge of prototype quality systems, deviation management, defect containment, root cause analysis, and process validation.

• Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles, 5S methodologies, standardized work, and continuous improvement practices.

• Experience utilizing Jira or similar work management systems to document build progress, engineering changes, quality inspections, deviations, and manufacturing traceability.

• Ability to independently prioritize multiple assignments while maintaining quality, accuracy, and schedule commitments in a fast-paced engineering environment.

• Experience performing PCB assembly and rework using industry-standard workmanship practices.

• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills with Manufacturing, Design, Validation, Test, and Quality Engineering organizations.

Preferred Experience:

• 3 or more years of experience in prototype manufacturing, engineering development, or automotive technician roles.

• Experience supporting prototype builds within the electric vehicle, automotive, or advanced technology industries.

• Experience utilizing Jira and Confluence to support engineering documentation, issue tracking, build execution, and workflow management.

• Experience collaborating with Manufacturing Engineering, Design Engineering, Test & Validation Engineering, Quality Engineering, Supply Chain, and Operations organizations.
