About this role
Company Background
Censys’ mission is to be the one place to understand everything on the internet. Frustrated by the lack of trustworthy Internet intelligence, we set out to create the industry’s most comprehensive, accurate, and up-to-date map of the Internet. Today, Censys delivers real-time Internet intelligence and actionable threat insights to global governments, over 50% of the Fortune 500, and leading threat intelligence providers worldwide.
We are hiring a Technical Content Specialist to help customers and internal teams truly understand Censys products — not just how to click through them, but why they matter and how they fit into the daily work of attack surface management, critical infrastructure monitoring, and threat hunting. You will own the learning content and hands-on exercises in the Censys Academy LMS that turn a new user into a confident and effective one. You’ll also help build product documentation, videos, and interactive capture-the-flag (CTF) exercise. This is a hands-on content and instructional design role that sits close to the product, and you'll need to understand it deeply enough to teach both the mechanics and the mission behind it.
This role puts you at the intersection of cybersecurity and storytelling — you're not just documenting a product, you're helping people understand how to actually defend critical infrastructure and hunt threats at internet scale. You'll get your hands on every new feature before customers do, translate serious technical firepower into learning experiences people actually enjoy (video, interactive CTFs, not just static docs), and see your work directly shape how thousands of security professionals understand and use Censys. It's a rare mix of creative freedom and deep technical substance, in a space where what you teach genuinely helps people find and fix real vulnerabilities before attackers do.
What You’ll Do:
• Learning Content & LMS
• Plan, develop, write, and manage interactive learning content for the Censys learning management system (LMS), from course and learning path structure and goals through final publication
• Transform instructor-led training (ILT) content into engaging, self-paced eLearning experiences that hold up without a live instructor in the room
• Work with subject matter experts across the organization to design interactive capture-the-flag learning exercises that customers and internal teams can complete asynchronously
• Product Documentation
• Assist the Senior Content Manager in creating, editing, and publishing product documentation, ensuring it stays clear, accurate, and consistent with the product experience
• Create and execute processes for keeping existing technical content and email onboarding programs current, so they always reflect the present state of the product rather than how it worked six months ago
• Video & Multimedia
• Produce video content covering new feature releases, customer personas, and real-world product use cases
• Choose the right format for the message — written doc, short video, interactive walkthrough, or hands-on exercise — based on what will actually help the user learn
• Teaching the Why, Not Just the How
• Teach users not only how the product works, but why it matters and the value it adds to their day-to-day work
• Build the domain fluency to explain how Censys supports core attack surface management, critical infrastructure monitoring, and threat hunting / threat intel workflows, and connect product capabilities directly to those outcomes
• Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Participate in feature development and testing early enough to build better enablement content and to advocate for improvements to the user experience based on what you learn while teaching it to others
• Partner with Product, Engineering, Sales Engineering, and Customer Success to keep content grounded in what customers are actually trying to accomplish
Skills You’ll Have:
• 2+ years of experience in technical writing, instructional design, content development, or a related content/enablement role, ideally at a B2B SaaS or cybersecurity company
• Demonstrated experience building content for an LMS or other eLearning platform, including course structuring and publishing
• Strong writing skills with the ability to translate complex, technical product functionality into clear, engaging content for a range of audiences
• Experience producing or coordinating video content, from scripting through final production
• Comfortable learning technical, security-focused products in depth and translating that knowledge into teachable content
• Strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple content workstreams and deadlines simultaneously
• Excellent collaboration skills, with experience working across Product, Engineering, Sales, and Customer Success to gather input and validate content accuracy
• Demonstrates curiosity, a willingness to learn, and sound judgment in applying AI
Preferred :
• Familiarity with cybersecurity concepts such as attack surface management, critical infrastructure monitoring, or threat hunting / threat intelligence
• Experience designing capture-the-flag (CTF) exercises or other hands-on, scenario-based technical training
• Experience with video editing tools and eLearning authoring tools (e.g., Articulate, Camtasia, or similar)
• Experience converting instructor-led training into self-paced digital content
• Familiarity with product documentation tools and publishing workflows
