Job Profile Summary: Provides complex IT services to end users in order to support the mission of the institution through technology. Deploys enterprise managed tools that manage devices, deploys software and security updates of devices and applications across an enterprise, and updates documented processes. Job Description: At Arizona State University, the TechEd Specialist supports the effective implementation, adoption, and use of learning technologies across academic units. The position serves as a learning technology resource for faculty, instructional designers, and academic units, helping translate enterprise technology capabilities into effective and scalable solutions that support teaching and learning.
Working in partnership with the Office of the University Provost and Enterprise Technology teams, the TechEd Specialist supports the implementation of institutional learning technology priorities within assigned academic units. The role focuses on technology implementation, adoption, training, technical guidance, and ongoing engagement to help faculty successfully use ASU-supported learning technologies.
The position requires strong learning technology expertise, communication and relationship-management skills, and the ability to work across academic and technical environments. The TechEd Specialist also gathers feedback from academic units to identify technology needs, implementation challenges, and opportunities for improvement and shares those insights with Enterprise Technology and the Office of the University Provost.
Position Salary Range: $66,200 - $85,000 annually.
Essential Duties: Academic Unit Engagement • Serves as a learning technology support for assigned academic units, maintaining regular engagement with faculty, instructional designers, and academic leaders.
• Identifies learning technology needs, implementation challenges, and support requirements within assigned units.
• Supports implementation of institutional learning technology priorities in partnership with the Office of the University Provost and Enterprise Technology.
• Collects and communicates academic-unit feedback to inform improvements to learning technology services, tools, and implementation approaches.
• Take responsibility for fostering a positive culture, upholding organizational values, and championing engagement in all its forms.
Learning Technology Implementation & Adoption • Supports implementation and adoption of enterprise learning technologies within academic units.
• Works with faculty, instructional designers, and unit technology teams to implement supported learning technologies within instructional environments.
• Develops implementation plans, workflows, and adoption resources for new and existing learning technologies.
• Identifies implementation barriers and coordinates with appropriate Enterprise Technology teams to resolve or escalate technical issues.
• Supports pilots and phased implementations of new and emerging learning technologies.
Learning Technology Training & Resources • Designs and delivers training focused on the functionality, implementation, and effective use of ASU- supported learning technologies.
• Develops accessible and scalable technology resources, including tutorials, quick-start guides, implementation guides, workflow documentation, FAQs, and job aids.
• Supports faculty and instructional designers with varying levels of technical knowledge and experience.
• Coordinates training and implementation resources with other university teams to provide consistent information and support.
Learning Technology Guidance • Provides guidance on the capabilities, appropriate use, and implementation requirements of ASU-supported learning technologies.
• Helps academic units understand available enterprise learning technology options and identify solutions that meet defined instructional technology needs.
• Provides implementation guidance related to accessibility, interoperability, scalability, security, and institutional requirements.
• Refers questions related to broader pedagogy, curriculum, course design, or teaching practice to appropriate academic or instructional design resources.
Data, Feedback & Continuous Improvement • Tracks learning technology adoption, training participation, implementation issues, and academic-unit engagement.
• Identifies patterns in technology usage, support needs, implementation barriers, and stakeholder feedback.
• Provides data and stakeholder feedback to Enterprise Technology and the Office of the University Provost to inform learning technology planning and priorities.
• Recommends improvements to implementation processes, training, documentation, and support based on stakeholder feedback and usage patterns.
Cross-Functional Collaboration • Collaborates with Enterprise Technology teams, the Office of the University Provost, instructional designers, and academic-unit technology teams to support coordinated learning technology implementation.
• Maintains clear handoffs, referrals, and escalation pathways across teams.
• Participates in cross-functional learning technology initiatives and implementation efforts.
• Ensures academic units receive consistent information regarding enterprise learning technologies, implementation timelines, changes, and available support.
• Collaborate across teams and actively participate in ET/ASU events and programs.
