ABOUT THE ROLE

We're a fast-moving, seed-stage startup building AI-powered voice and text agents that automate customer service and operational workflows for businesses at scale. Our platform handles everything from inbound and outbound call campaigns to appointment scheduling, lead qualification, and CRM integration — all powered by human-like conversational AI.

We're looking for a Tech Lead to join our small but high-impact engineering team on-site in New York City. You'll play a pivotal role in shaping our technical direction, leading engineers, and driving the architecture and delivery of our core AI/ML platform. This is a hands-on leadership role — you'll be writing code and making architectural decisions while mentoring the team around you.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

- Lead and mentor a team of engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.

- Own and evolve the architecture of our conversational AI and voice technology systems, ensuring they are reliable, scalable, and production-ready.

- Drive hands-on development across AI/ML pipelines, NLP/LLM integrations, telephony infrastructure, and cloud deployments.

- Collaborate cross-functionally with product, operations, and go-to-market teams to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions.

- Advocate clearly for technical decisions to non-technical stakeholders, including founders and customers.

- Establish and improve engineering processes, standards, and best practices as the team scales.

- Evaluate and integrate third-party APIs, CRM connectors, and telephony systems into the core platform.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Required

- Proven experience leading engineering teams, including mentoring engineers and driving engineering strategy.

- Strong background designing and building AI/ML systems at scale, ideally in cloud-based SaaS or startup environments.

- Hands-on experience with conversational AI, voice technology, and NLP/LLM applications (e.g. speech-to-text, text-to-speech, dialogue management, LLM orchestration).

- Proficiency with major cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and deploying ML models in production.

- Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills — comfortable translating technical complexity for non-technical audiences.

- Must have the right to work in the United States; no visa sponsorship is available.

Nice to Have

- Experience with telephony systems, call routing, or VoIP infrastructure.

- Familiarity with CRM integrations (e.g. HubSpot or similar platforms).

- Prior experience at a conversational AI, contact center AI, or voice technology company.

- Comfort operating in a small, fast-paced startup environment with high ownership and ambiguity.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

- Salary: $220,000 – $250,000 per year

LOCATION

This role is on-site in New York City, NY. Candidates must be based in or willing to relocate to the New York City area. No visa sponsorship is provided.
