Supply Chain Manager (Indirect Procurement – Manufacturing)
Job Description: Solar Turbines Incorporated is hiring for the role of Supply Chain Manager within the Indirect Procurement organization.

What You’ll Do (Job Duties): Solar Turbines is hiring a Supply Chain Manager within the Indirect Procurement organization, responsible for the Manufacturing / Regional Facility related categories.
You will lead a dynamic, multi-site team of Buyers (Procurement Specialists); approx. 8-10 direct reports. Your leadership will: • Build, develop, and mentor a high performing team to execute regional supplier strategies. • Drive quality, delivery, and cost improvements across the supply base. • Ensure a robust supplier strategy and resiliency. • Foster a culture of excellence and ethical leadership across a diverse organization.
As a key leader of the Global Supply Chain team, you will: • Collaborate cross-functionally with business leaders to ensure execution of business requirements. *** Internal customers will include: Manufacturing/ Production, Facility Engineering, Maintenance, EHS. • Own and execute sourcing strategies for Manufacturing / Regional Facility related categories. *** Categories will include, but not limited to: Building & Construction, Facility Services, Skilled Trades, Utilities, MRO, Perishable Tooling, PPE, Hazardous Materials, Capital Equipment (Machinery, Equipment, and Vehicles), Packaging. • Lead contract negotiations and ensure compliant purchasing execution with suppliers to build a competitive advantage through a high performing supply base.
What You Have (Core Skills): • Leadership : Knowledge of leadership practices and processes; ability to use strategies and skills to enlist others in setting, embracing, and achieving objectives while having a long-term perspective of the future state of things and how to get there. • Category Management : Knowledge of category management within an organization’s goods and services sector; ability to use this knowledge to analyze and improve the end-to-end procurement process and maximize business profitability. • Strategic Sourcing : Knowledge of strategic sourcing methods, technologies and processes; ability to analyze, improve and re-evaluate organizational procurement process continuously. • Supplier Management : Knowledge of processes and methods to effectively manage business relationships and transactions with suppliers of goods or services; ability to apply related knowledge, experience and skills into real practice. • Contract Management : Knowledge of policies, standards and processes of how to manage and administer contracts; ability to use proper processes and practices for managing and administering a variety of contractual agreements. • Negotiating : Knowledge of successful negotiation concepts and techniques; ability to negotiate successfully across the organization and with external vendors and clients in a constructive and collaborative manner. • Effective Communications : Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
Additional Details: • Work location: San Diego, CA (Harbor Drive facility) • Relocation assistance IS NOT available for this position • Visa sponsorship IS NOT available for this position • Travel: up to 30% depending on location (to include CA, OK, KS, TX) • This position requires working onsite 5 days per week (Mon-Fri)
Required Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree with strong experience in the Purchasing & Procurement job function • Fluent in Business English in written and oral form
Top Candidates Will Also Have: • Bachelor's degree with at least 13-15 years, or Master’s degree with at least 10-12 years, of purchasing and procurement experience • Experience with identified purchasing categories • Experience in managing complex and long-term contractual agreements (various contract types including Master Agreements, Schedules, Statements of Work, Terms and Conditions, Non-Disclosure Agreements) • Experience in interpreting and negotiating contractual elements, both legal and commercial in nature (including Confidentiality, Intellectual Property, Data Privacy, Indemnification, Limit of Liability, Warranty) • Experience in the development of long-term supplier relationships • Experience in the development of strategic sourcing strategies • Sound analytical skills and problem-solving ability • Solid communication skills, high initiative, assertiveness, and organizational skills • Strong knowledge of generally accepted purchasing practices and policies
